Arin, fucking over fans by saying he didn’t write this book but he actually did and it doesn’t make sense to lie about it since you’re STILL using your platform and fame to sell it so why lie and make up an uncle, Hanson

The people on rant grumps are something else 💀 like they put misidentifying a pride flag accidentally next to one of their editors being complicit in abuse. I mean shit, they said Arin was " faking being an abuse victim because folks on twitter really resonated with him being forced by his mom to support his uncle" when it was obvious from day one that it was a bit. I mean ffs the "clips of the uncle" are just Arin in a shitty wig and fancy clothes.(Context: Arin wrote old style mystery novels and made a whole bit about being forced by his mom and a contract to promote his 'creepy uncle's' books. It's not true and it was obvious to litterally everyone that it was a fucking bit.) and they put that next to allegations that dan messaged underage fans a couple years ago.
Btw pretty much every allegation directly aimed at Dan and Arin, not Suzy or editors or anyone else, has no evidence or the evidence is fucking text screenshots with no source link with no evidence of being true other than text from contact labeled as Dan in someone's phone like do you even remotely understand how that doesn't count for shit...
Like they do realize by putting the most non issue shit in their big callouts next to like... Rape and grooming allegations (with no evidence) and actual real shit like pedo animators still having their animations up on their channel years after being outed as pedos (with evidence) they devalue their whole fucking document. There is litterally nothing they could do that these people would be ok with, they litterally contradict each other. When they delete old offensive episodes they are suddenly " hiding the evidence" and " disrupting the series" but if they keep the offensive things up that didn't age well they " clearly don't see a problem with it" and " are complicit in said bigotry". Like do they take it down or leave it up. Why are you so pressed about the sad hoshi bit. Some of their old jokes are in bad taste and are offensive but considering they are litterally celebrating their 13 yr anniversary and Arin has been on the Internet like this even longer than that and ADMITS to being a dark humor edgelord in his early days that he's happy to have grown out of and progressed... Like do you want them to become better people who take accountability or do you want them to just fuck off and die???
People were doing offensive accent jokes in 2014, it was quite common actually, why are we bringing up this shit in 2026 when they are clearly past that.. im not anti-cancel culture and holding celebrity's accountable but you gotta have evidence for the bigotry in question and bringing up shit from over a decade ago when it's clear the person has changed and has no ill will, your just digging shit up to justify a bias 🙄
Welp, it’s time. Another criticism of a thing I like that I feel is slipping in the same way it always slips on the few occaisions it does. That’s right, it’s a Game Grumps complaint about Arin’s play style and attitude. This is probably going to be an unneccessary analysis of something inconsequential that probably only bothers me enough to talk about it for this long but here goes. I do think bad gameplay can be bad for the episodes for reasons other than personally frustrating the people who know the solutions.
The reason I think this is the case is because yes, we can’t expect every Lets Player to 360 no scope every challenge in every game, because they’re splitting their attention between talking and playing, which I’ve tried and is definitely not something I could sustain for 10 minutes worth of footage a day. But I do think, and this might be encroaching on the territory of me, an unemployed none-entertainer telling an entertainer how to do their job, but Game Grumps IS Arin’s job, and I think going into a job that involves creating lighthearted entertainment with the possibility that you’re going to get upset and frustrated is something that he should have a bit more foresight regarding and trying to plan around. Since honestly, Arin getting frustrated I don’t really like in an episode, as it tends to catch me off guard and make me really agitated, since I watch Game Grumps to unwind. I know Arin is angry in a lot of episodes for comedic effect but it’s easy to assume that he plays that up for the show, wheras his quiet and seething frustration seems like something different and less fun.
Whew, now that the diplomatic wording is out of the way, here’s the running list of things Arin has not encountered in Majora’s Mask that he has complained about which is a blatant case of me putting my ego in a thing I like. :P
The invisible ladder puzzle being frustrating and ‘the fans’ not noticing its repetition, there are two shortcuts to getting spring water after you get the Goron mask that means you don’t actually have to do it ever again. Namely the frozen over hole on the bridge leads to spring water, and the sheer slope right next to the invisible ladder that leads up to the original spring water.
You don’t have to grind Rupees all the time as Arin implied, there is a bank, which Arin uses moments before complaining he has to grind.
Every area has at least one Eagle statue so you literally never need to shoot the icicle above the Snowhead entrance after the first time. (Though I can understand that playing the warp song when you need to go to a lot of places in succession is a bit of a ball ache)
You don’t need to buy the Powder Kegs from the big Goron, after he gives you the bomb licence you can just buy Powder Kegs at the normal bomb shop in Clock Town.
You don’t need to repeat dungeons because you started late in the cycle, they all have owl statues and are activated by songs so you can restart the three days and start the dungeons as early as possible.
Majora’s Mask is about a time loop but that doesn’t mean it’s repetitive, everything has a shortcut that you’re meant to exploit to make the current loop easier, this is the purpose of there being an explorative element, similar to Breath of the Wild. That’s personally why they’re two of my top Zeldas because the exploration is essential to the game rather than, to quote Zero Punctuation, an option set of tassels to put on the handlebars as it is in a lot of other Zeldas.
I get the inkling that Arin strongly disliked having to do their playthrough of Paper Mario: TTYD. I feel that he had a really bad attitude basically throughout a lot of it, with with his frequent and unwarranted criticisms (With his ‘I didn’t understand this thing therefore it’s bad game design’ thing coming up on a few occasions).
I think I might’ve enjoyed it more if they’d at any point before the 131st episode tried to play the game offscreen to get used it a bit more, so Arin wouldn’t have complained so much and Dan wouldn’t have been lost so frequently, which is precisely what they did with the much more complicated Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 for instance.
Usually when I have these sorts of complaints I’m worried I’m going to be told to not watch Game Grumps if I get annoyed by it, to which I say: Yeah I get that, but I don’t dislike Game Grumps for it, I’m allowed to really enjoy something and also observe when the quality dips, if I ignores their faults I would be a sycophant, which I don’t think I am.
