I was reading a Johnlock m-preg story and no, that wasn't the problem. It wasn't a kink, it wasn't an ooc moment, or even bad writing. Though it does have a few grammar errors, but I can over look it.
What upset me and really made me want to throw my phone against the wall is that it justified itself when a male character hits a woman.
So let me explain what I read: (again, Johnlock m-preg fic; also post-reichenbach)
John, three months pregnant, walks to Angelo's and witnesses a man mugged and stabbed.
He tries to help the man, but he bleeds out and dies. Then the police show up, Lestrade and Donovan. Donovan then notices that John is pregnant, how she came to the conclusion so quickly was very strange. This isn't an omega fic, some freakish coincidence had John pregnant and she was very ready to assume so. Again, I overlooked it.
She yells that it's unnatural and that he should get rid of it because it'll "end up a monster like it's freak of a father."
Did I think she was a bitch? Yes because why would you even speak so ill of the dead like that? Especially to the man who was very close with him.
And then.....John punches Sally.
I was reading this at work and I made such a loud exclamation that I had my boss look out his office and ask if I was ok. No, I was not ok.
I kept reading, unfortunately, to see what happened to John and Sally. Sally gets detained and John walks away. Lestrade even lied and said that Sally may have had a few too much to drink at the pub before getting called in.
I exited out of the fic and stared into nothing while a tidal wave of FUCK NO whirled in me.
They justified a woman getting punched in the face because she was being a bitch. I didn't like the way Sally spoke in this fic, but I never wanted her to get hit.
And there's another thing, in the show Sally was just doing her job. With some evidence (granted false evidence) she believed she caught a criminal and she arrested him. Was she wrong, hell yeah, but she was doing her job. I didn't hate her for that.
John also said(in this fic) that he wanted to hit her because of what she did and once he did, was very much satisfied.
BUT THERE SHOULD NEVER BE A REASON TO HIT A WOMAN. NO MATTER OF WHAT SHIT SHE'S SPEWING. DO. NOT. DO. IT.
WHY WOULD YOU WRITE THAT IT WAS OK TO DO THAT?
