How do you respond to the copying @head---ache style allegations
idk how exactly to give a short answer, so i’m just gonna yap ig. i must say that they are the reason i actually ever started drawing sonic as well as my main reference of figuring out how to draw sonic style characters, so that was definitely a huge influence on what my art looks like. my artist red flag is that when i really like an art style, i get in a laser-focus tunnel-vision type mindset, and learn to copy it down to every single detail that i can. this is something that I’ve done for yeeeeeears (autism+ocd hyperfixation behavior, i could elaborate on these diagnoses later).
so, as someone new to the sonic style and absolutely hooked on head---ache’s style, yeah i was totally copying it. i’m completely aware that it is problematic, so it is something i’ve actively been working on moving away from. i am still a huge fan of their work, but i am no longer in my tunnel-vision stage, so i don’t exclusively use their artwork as a reference (at this point in time i never use their art as a reference just because i am really trying to develop my own style).
so i guess the short answer is yeah i used to copy their style entirely, but not anymore. ig the resemblance is still very much there bc of a sort of ‘style blindness’ but yeah. i’m working on it.
also i’m gonna be honest, i don’t quite understand the context of this ask; are you saying there are allegations that i’m unaware of or is this ask the allegations? which isn’t actually relevant to the answer lmao
and one last note: i mentioned having autism+ocd behaviors, but i want to clarify that i am explaining myself, not excusing myself. there is a reason behind what i’ve done, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay!
anyway, @head---ache if you’re reading this i hope that you’re having a good day and haven’t been bothered by me.
