named Maude Gothelle, NRC school nurse
looks young for her age, has voluminous coiled hair and fair white skin
adopted Raine as a baby, so they don't look alike at all but are family
clever, charming, and headstrong. uses passive aggressive comments and witty jokes to hide that she cares deep down
doesn't tell the full truth (to protect people), pretty self-confident and insists she knows best
good caretaker, pretty overprotective and strict as a parent though. feared letting her son out on his own for a long time due to his health problems. only lets him go to NRC because she works there
UM lets her keep people trapped in enclosed spaces with special conditions. mostly used for keeping unruly or high-risk patients safe from themselves and others. has used it to interrogate people before she became a nurse. has used it on Raine before as a punishment. has never needed to use it at NRC yet so no one else knows about her unique magic spell
accidentally uses her UM on the library when Riddle, Kalim, Deuce, and Jack are inside and triggers the Radiant Reenactment event right before she leaves campus (taking Raine on a short trip for his birthday). they didn't have to do any of the princess stuff and it naturally wore off in the evening. Raine is awestruck at all the floating lanterns when they get back and thinks Maude set up the whole thing
Rapunzel OC
named Raine Gothelle, son of Maude
UM involves healing, glowing hair. using it activates its regenerative properties, healing whatever he wraps in his hair. Maude doesn't let him cut it much, she asks Raine to help in the nurse's office sometimes
spent a lot of his childhood in hospitals. was very ill as a boy and couldn't experience normal kid stuff. was homeschooled by Maude and picked up a lot of random indoor hobbies (self-taught)
was overjoyed when he discovered his magic and UM. but led to him and Maude spending more time in hospitals, this time helping heal others during emergencies. he understands but wishes he didn't

Appearance
has long black hair that his mother doesn't let him cut past his knees, knows how to maintain it (coconut oil is king!), glows golden blonde when his UM activates and lingers a little after it's used
the equivalent of southeast asian in appearance with dark skin and hair, sharp contrast to Maude's European white skin and voluminous hair. no one ever suspects they're family until they learn their last names
constantly changes how he wears his long hair to keep it out of his way
has round, bright green eyes and baby fat
has poor taste and fashion sense, usually just wears whatever flowy and comfortable stuff he likes
Personality
energetic, eager, honest, and optimistic
indecisive over big decisions, gets super anxious so instead he defaults to other people easily, doesn't stand up for himself, wants to be agreeable
his soothing ritual for anxiety is singing while combing through his hair
used to being isolated or working alone, very competent and self-taught
always happy to do normal teenage things for the life experience. knows something is dangerous but takes calculated risks, mistaken for thoughtless or naive.
he's aware that he doesn't know a lot and is very open minded but can be gullible. genuinely believed scary stories of monsters and ghouls told to him as a kid and it gave him a fear of the outside world
has random knowledge or fun facts, like knowing the legends behind the constellations because he studied the stars for a period of time
Likes/Dislikes
loves learning and trying new things, has never been to school and absorbs knowledge like a sponge. a quick study
multi-talented, has many indoor hobbies he likes (music, painting, sewing, reading, candle-making, ballet, all self-taught). but also likes trying outdoor activites
loves any kind of bright lights like fairy lights, starry skies, the sun and moon, chandeliers, candles, and of course, floating lanterns
likes playing around with different hairstyles. hates brushing his hair
loves grassy meadows and thrills
likes straightforward and passionate people who wear their heart on their sleeve. dislikes boring people, hates manipulation and betrayal
dislikes flowers surprisingly, has seen too many of them in hospital and associates them with sickness and loss

Interactions with the school
does well in every subject because of his thirst for knowledge and studies hard, hardest is history because he doesn't know a lot about other countries and geography. really good at singing-based incantations
has a really long time figuring out which club to join because they all sound so fun. ends up in equestrian club per Maude's suggestion (knowing it's safer than the other outdoor clubs Raine's considering). his favorite horse is named Maximus.
would relate to Riddle about not having a normal childhood and a controlling mom
has mixed feelings about Cater but likes his energy and wants to befriend him, even if he politely asks to not be in pictures
unphased by Rook's odd behavior and loves how he finds beauty in everything, thinks his archery is super impressive
would unironically eat Lilia's cooking and finds it genuinely interesting how he creates new, unappetizing flavors.
has a lot of similarities to Kalim and would eagerly get along with him. Jamil makes him nervous, but he isn't sure why at first, does not like his scheme and overblot
would get along least with Azul, Jade, Silver, or Leona
Other Notes
is slightly curious about his original heritage and birth parents but Maude is always weird about it (didn't kidnap him but she's just insecure)
