I'm finally in the "making shit up" part of my Rashemen research! If anyone has any theories or traditions (silly or serious) feel free to tell me!!

I based it all in one book named "Spellbound" it's easily accessible on internet archive, look up "spellbound dnd" and you'll find it.

My Google doc is just somewhat paraphrased and reorganized to fit my needs.

Found out about Rashemen in the Forgotten Realms setting last year and this character idea has stuck with me ever since. Meet Sasha, the former hathran turned ranger!

Rambling about D&D lore below the cut :)

One of my favorite things about FR is that Ed Greenwood is a trans ally who often answers people's lore questions, and so gender transition does not only canonically exist, but has multiple canonical methods and is accepted by basically everybody. Except maybe drow, who hate everything.

But on the other hand you still have very hierarchical (mostly matriarchal?) systems of gender in parts of the setting. Like Rashemen, where the study of magic is segregated between the the all-female, badass witches of the Wychlaran and the lamer all-male Vremyonni. They both provide different magical services for the country and are never allowed to share their methods with each other or with outsiders, since Rashemen is constantly being menaced and spied on by the undead wizard dictatorship next door who have a thing for infiltrating their organizations and assassinating people. The Wychlaran aren't allowed to show their faces, and the Vremyonni aren't even allowed to leave their seclusion. If you're a magic-user in Rashemen you basically have to join one of the two.

This brings up - what is to me - the very funny scenario of some hathran being like "hey I'd like to go by Jim now" and his fellow matriarchal forest cultists taking THAT part in stride but being totally flummoxed as to how Jim figures into national security.

I don't really know alot about DnD and making characters but i think for my next playthrough i want to make an oc that hails from rashemen like minsc and actually idolized him but got kidnapped on thier journey of dajemma but im not sure what classes or things to pick for them so i gotta so some extensive research

Anyway, she did have very interesting company, perhaps a new friend 🤔

Sketches of a story set in D&D Forgotten Realms (in Rashemen) and it's about Vadislen, an amputated warrior who investigates the disappearance of men in an isolated village infiltrated by a wicked cult of witches and surrounded by a forest full of spirits. It's like a bad mix between Burton's Sleepy Hollow and Princess Mononoke. I'll never write it, I'm just drawing it sometimes for fun.
