I have a confession to make. Back in late 2021 to early 2022, me and my friends started making posts about Ratbert, an incredibly minor character from the Dilbert comics who hadn't appeared in any comics for years.
We became obssessed with this rat, creating our own lore about him. He was assissinated by the NSA on the order of Obama. Orginally, we thought Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, was devestated by his death, only to realize that he was the one that ordered Obama to kill him in the first place.
My friend who headed our little movement made a twitter account called Ratbert Fan #1 and did most of the legwork. I was Ratbert Fan 3#. There were only four accounts made, and every post made my Ratbert Fan #1 was harrassing Scott Adams with the other accounts retweeting. We eventually got Scott Adams to put Ratbert in another comic, but we did not believe him to be the real one. Liquid Ratbert, if you will.
This went on for sometime and ended when the Ratbert Fan #1 account was banned because of a specific tweet. I remember it was insulting some guy, and the comment was actually pretty tame. Like, he had said way meaner things to other people. It was devestating. The account was brought back, but hasn't been active since.
We did something. We made Ratbert mean something. He eventually made a reddit accoutn for Ratbert (not sure of the name) and just made tons of posts in the Dilbert subreddit, which were pretty widespread if I remember correctly (not because they were wildly popular, but because the subreddit didn't have a ton of active members). It was even mentioned somewhat reasonly.
(the him here referring to Ratbert)
I felt that now was the time to talk about it. We (me and this friend) were scrolling on tiktok (for the final time probably, even if something happens and it doesn't get banned, he's going to delete his account because we made a lot of comments today it was a whole thing). Anways, we came across a post of a Ratbert mug, and were simply reminded that we did that. We made Ratbert what he is. We took him away from Scott Adams, the false prophet who mistreated and killed him for knowing too much. Stay safe out there.
