Heya! cause i just remembered, and I saw in the masterpost y'all haven't mentioned this yet (partaining to how to protect writing from AI companies using it in training data, specifically about Ao3 works)
The easiest way to protect writing that is posted on Ao3 from AI scrapping is to make the work only viewable by registered users.
Ao3 doesn't cooperate with AI companies but they cannot protect works that can just be found without registering. However, the process to register is generally long enough that it stops most companies from going in and manually having to do that.
It's not as much of a protection/disruption as Glaze is, but it is a good first step.
(However, this does disrupt most discord Ao3 linking bots, so be aware of that. Regular links still work fine, and the Ao3 sharing feature is pretty valuable for this as well as it links everything, at least when you paste it into a tumblr post)
anyway, long text, hope this can help some people. I would definitely reccomend going thru older Ao3-posted stuff that had not been orphaned and switching to registered users only being able to view.
Very good point! Thanks for the info :D
