lily let out a small laugh as she read the contents of the envelope a strangely sombre james had given her when they had met up in the common room before breakfast. he had asked her the night before how muggles got jobs and she had explained to him the concept of resumes, describing them as ‘a plea for a job you really want’. she quirked an eyebrow at him, pursing her lips. “being my boyfriend would be a job now, would it?”

he blinked. “i would prefer the term ‘role’ but yes, one i would very much want to have.”

she stared at him for a few seconds longer until he started to shift uncomfortably before grinning. “you’re hired,” she whispered into his ear as she stood on tiptoes to kiss him.
