Okay so basically, all my lecturers when I started my history degree in 2018 admitted that they found a lot of referencing programs too complicated and took too much time to learn. And this is a kinda long explanation so here goes:
So they proposed a new way of doing it, which only really included the author's name, title, page number, date of publication and place of publication (if those can be found) and publisher. Of course not in that order.
But they made it so our footnotes were nearly exactly the same to what info we'd put in our bibliographies at the end of the piece, with first name and surname being switched so first name went in footnotes first, and surname went in the bibli first.
It means now, after just doing a double-check of the order, I should (as a fifth-year history student now doing second-year honours) be able to do both my footnotes and bibli in under 15 minutes.
