@raventm // CONT FROM X
Fridge door currently ajar, he nudges it closed, suddenly not very hungry. In fact, if anything, now he’s queasy. He knows Raven isn’t overly fond of talking out her feelings or being vulnerable in front of others. He knows she has her own ways of coping and he does his best his best to respect that but right now... Right now she looks tired, sad and - could that be a small spark of fear in her eyes? With a soft sigh he opens the fridge again. But then quickly closes it. Open. Closed. Should I stay? Or should I go?
“Raven I...” he begins. And suddenly he feels like he’s just learning how to talk. His tongue is twisting and he’s stumbling over his words and he likely sounds like he has one brain cell right now. But the fact that he sounds like a bumbling idiot doesn’t matter right now. What matters is Raven. “You say it’s just a nightmare, but... I don’t want to push you into talking about it or anything... I just... I just...” He runs a weary hand over his face. “We’re friends, right? Isn’t it okay for friends to be worried about each other? You don’t have to talk about it... And I won’t stay if me doing so makes you uncomfortable. I just want you to know that I’m here for you. And if you don’t want to talk about it, I could distract you from it instead. I could even turn into an animal, if you want. Petting animals tends to make people feel better. Or maybe tomorrow we could even get a real pet. I’d help you take care of it.”
He pauses, self consciously rubbing at his arm. He’s saying too much, isn’t he? He’s annoying her, isn’t he? “Sorry,” he blurts out, “I didn’t mean to say so much. Sorry.” And the worst part? Some of the skills his shifting ability gives him apply to this human form. He can smell blood. And although he’d like to think she just got a paper-cut or maybe it’s that time of month, he can’t help but feel concerned. “I’ll just go now... Unless you want me to stay?”
