thoughts on women in horror?

OHH this is a favorite topic of mine.... horror is a really fascinating genre because it’s simultaneously a genre where women take the spotlight but also very misogynistic; it’s a genre in which women are often the protagonist, the final girl we’re rooting for, or even better, a villain who is allowed to be truly monstrous, but at the same time their suffering often veers into exploitative and voyeuristic. it also definitely depends on the movie/book!
