mind.in.a.box & Ray Koefoed - World Without A Sky
Sweet spirit, move quick, remind me who was always in control.
if my voice could move the sails of our ships to war I could spin the grandest tales that would steer us from your shore I'd pull us so far away until the days forced hate to stray from beautiful hearts that day we lay our weapons down and find our way to common ground to make amends for all those slain to end the pain drifting away from who we are has fate let us go too far if I were strong enough inside to put my pride aside I'd retract this pointed finger with my blame for those who died I'll never find peace of mind for all that I have left behind I've let myself become confined misaligned my mind is blind with hate and fear I've been entwined now defined drifting away from who we are has fate let us go too far
Josh Spicer’s Top 15 Favorite Songs of 2012 - 9
9. "Like a Machine" by Ray Koefoed and bZa
Skip ahead to like the 1:20 minute mark for the actual song/video.
In 2010/2011, I don't know, I discovered Ray Koefoed through Machinima. "Taste the Cake", "Excommunicated", and "A Plague on You" were all favorites of mine. In 2012 he dropped "Like a Machine".
Out of all these listed, "Like a Machine" is the only one I can properly listen to most of the time without skipping it or having to be in "the mood" for it.
It's a simple song in lyrics yet a complex song in instrumental.
Yeah that's a recurring thing bee-tee-dubs.
bZa and Ray team-up to deliver a song about conspiracies and illumanities and "They Live"s and other such fallacies of the sort, but the thing that really sticks with me is how well they combine forces.
bZa's soft, auto-tuned slightly vocals work well with Ray's hard beat and dark, commanding vocals. The two come together well and that's really the selling point for me.
Ray is/was a damn good maker of beats and I always miss not having him appear on my subscription list just because he was a big part of me being welcomed onto the internet. It's with "Draw With Me" or "Bambee" in that department, and those types of videos are ones I always want to cherish.
To see Ray come out with something a couple years after that moment really rose this higher for me. In 2012 this probably would have been right here if not a little bit higher, but hindsight lowered this just a smidge.
