Looking upon these photo's I am overwhelmed by two realisations: the insane cruelty that comes with war. At best war-heroism is ill-thought through, at worst it's false pretense.
The other realisation concerns the doctors and nurses. Their bravery and their determination I can only describe as superhuman.
To be able to work in an emergency room in war time. Day in day out.
In The Netherlands we celebrated our liberation from war yesterday. Most of us do so by drinking rose wine in a park, or by dancing to whatever music is played in the nearest park to our homes. As did I.
Beautiful word, ambivalence.
This man protested the alleged burning of Korans at an American base, was shot by police and is now paralysed from the waist down.
