Thinking about this scene every now and then cuz they literally kinda got married like wtf 😏😉
There should be scene after this where when nobody is watching/paying attention, Thorin pulls Bilbo into the library. In there, Thorin gives Bilbo two books - one is about the traditions of the dwarves and the other is the great book of dwarven spice and herbs. Thorin asks Bilbo to open both books. Inside the first book, there’s a lock of braided hair which belongs to Thorin. Basically according to dwarven traditions, two ppl are considered married if both of their braided hairs are braided together. Inside the second book, there’s a bit of dirt/soil which is from the misty mountain and also details of how to grow trees in the mountain. Essentially, Thorin wanna complete the *marriage ceremony* by asking for Bilbo's a piece of braided hair AND wanting Bilbo to plant the acorn seed in the dirt lol
