With a few games under his belt to get him back into the swing of things, Anthony Volpe hits a line drive that brings two men home to break the tie and give the Yankees the lead!! Anthony is doing a great job today of making it hard to take him out of the game, and I love that!!! To make it even better, he then steals second just to remind them of who Anthony Volpe is and what he brings with him!! Way to go, Anthony!!! But wait, Anthony is not done, yet. He just scored a run to make the score, 5-1, Yankees!! What an inning and it all started with Anthony and ended with Anthony!!! I love the Kid!!!

Reading the Reformation : Luther

On 14, 15 and 16 February 2017, the Cunningham Lectures at New College, Edinburgh will mark the 500th Luther anniversary, with lectures by Professor Kaufmann covering Europe, Reformation and Luther.

New College Library holds outstanding Reformation collections that support the theme of the first lecture, Book, Print and Reformation. This includes examples of Luther’s pamphlets like the one below, from the early part of his career at the University of Wittenberg.

Each pamphlet, printed using the newly developed printing press technology, was cheaply produced and easily distributed, allowing the ideas they contained to spread quickly.

New College Library also holds some of Luther’s best known works, such as De Captivitate Babylonica Ecclesiae (1520), which attacks the Roman Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation, as well as the Papacy.

New College Library also holds Contra Henricum Regem (1522), Luther’s response to Henry VIII of England’s Assertio septem sacramentorum (or Defence of the Seven Sacraments) (1521).

The 1543 edition of Luther’s Larger Catechism below was printed before Luther’s death in 1546. Aimed at aiding clergymen to teach their congregations and parents their children, it is an illustration of how Luther’s publications had moved over time from protest pamphlets against the established Church to the foundations of a new denomination. Although the binding is probably a later addition, the white vellum wrapper and brass clasp show this to have been an high value item.The smaller size of the book makes it practical for personal reading and family use. The spine has a gold embossed stamp for ‘New College’.

One of Luther’s major works was his translation of the Bible, first the New Testament in 1522 and the Old Testament in 1534. New College holds an 1565 edition of Luther’s complete Bible.

The eagles know things and when they show up, they bring good things my way, every time... it's already starting with this ballgame... In the top of the 3rd inning, Austin Wells just got a hit. He was 0 for 17 before that single... that's a good thing. Aaron Judge gets on base so it's men on 1st and 2nd with one out... that's a good thing. Ben Rice works a walk to load the bases... that's a great thing!! Cody gets a single and Austin scores a run, and the Orioles get the out at second to make it 2-0, Yankees, with men on 1st and 3rd, with 2 outs... aside from the out, that's a good thing. Rosario gets a single, too, and Aaron scores another run, making it 3-0, Yankees, with men on 1st and 2nd, and 2 outs... that's a good thing. Trent Grisham steps up to the plate and bam💥... it's outta there, see ya.. a 3 run shot to make the score 6-0, Yankees!! That's a great thing, for sure!!! 3 great things,l that just scored, to be exact!!! The Yankees really needed this because they have lost the last 4 games in a row. The appearance of the eagles makes me think that pitching will not throw this game away, as it has done for the last 4 games... that would be a great thing, too. Win or lose, we needed this, and it just released a lot of endorphins into my bloodstream so I'm feeling very good!! That's a good thing!! I told you that the eagles were a sign of good things to come... with that many eagles, I think this is only the beginning of many great things to come!! What a 3rd inning for the Yankees!! It's been a tough day for Orioles pitcher, Eflin. He's on his 85th pitch, and we still have one out. Aaron Judge is the third player to have 3 at bats, and it's only the bottom of the 3rd. Grisham, Escarra, and Rice had solo homers!! Then Peraza hit a sac fly to get Jazz home, and then Escarra hit a 2 RBI single to get Dominguez and Volpe home!! It's 6-0, Yankees!! This is the biggest lead that we've had since the game against the Royals. It's been a long time coming!! Great job, gentlemen!! We don't wear numbers on our backs because baseball is a team sport, and we're proving that right now!!!

After almost 10 pitches, Austin Wells hits a 3 run homer into the bullpen!!! This is his 11th home run of the year!!

You can see the outfielder trying to catch the ball, but it's outta there!! 😁😁😁

Austin rounds the bases, and so do the other runners!!

As you can see, Austin looks as happy as can be. So do I!! Thank you, Austin!! He's been doing this a lot lately, and I'm happy about that!! The score is now 5-1, Yankees!!!!!

My boys did it. If we win the World Series, we'll make history because no team had ever come back from a 3-0 deficit. I think we're gonna do it. No one has won game 4 with a 3-0 deficit since 1970, and we just did. It's our year!!! Anthony Volpe set my boys on fire 🔥 LET'S GO YANKEES!!!!!
