“Tired of players asking to make character a LI even if HE (only he, not she or they) appeared literally for 3 slides like Spy from TTS”
The Thunderstorms Saga: Proving my theory right?
(Warning: spoilers)
A while back, I did a post suspecting Vellora of being more guilty than she lets on.
This update, we met this human Lord Gudjan. He runs the village near the border between Ro’od and Esshai. He gifts Tiss with some beautiful jewelry to earn her favor as the first Esshai dragon rider.
Gudjan and Vellora know each other as they are both involved in negotiations between Esshai and Ro’od.
Well, previously, I suspected Vellora was involved in the smuggling of Esshai goods into the Empire. Tiss has come across valuable merchandise that should only be available in Esshai. When she brought it up to Vellora and the spy Aldir, their reactions were… not exactly shocked.
My theory was that there’s an underground network and possibly market, where merchants and spies trade Esshai goods for valuable information about Ro’od. Merchants from Ro’od get rich off their rare Esshai products, while the Esshai spies get access to inside knowledge from all around the Ro’od Empire.
Also seeing what a dickwad Emperor Foelh is, there are bound to be some miserable Ro’odian subjects wanting to cross over to Esshai.
When Narialm eats a cow at a village, Tiss makes note of how afraid the people are of them. When she offers to pay for the cow, the village elder is surprised by her offer. This means there are Ro’odian lords who abuse their power and just don’t give a damn about their citizens. We’ve already met Lord Nantal, so this is not a total shock. So again, there’s probably a good number of Ro’odians who’ve had it with Ro’od and its horny emperor and pompous lords.
I’d been thinking there must be an area where the border blurs. The different people mingle, exchange what they need, get the best of both worlds, and go on their way. A hub.
Now we meet this Lord Gudjan, a rich Imperial merchant. This is exactly his territory. Vellora probably sought out Lord Gudjan after Tiss told her about the smuggling in previous episodes. Now he’s making friends with Tiss, offering her pretty gifts. A bit of you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours, no?
I think when we escort Vellora back to Ro’od on our dragon, Tiss will start to see more signs of these shifty underground movements. And I think Griaran is possibly part of this underground movement. I wouldn’t be surprised if they encounter her. Aldir was unconcerned about her seeing his meeting with Tiss in that tavern. She’s already defied the Emperor before. She eschews the noble life, travels often, frequents bars, knows how to treat wounds, has many connections in high and low places, and is extremely nosey. Perfect for a secret network to… what? Bring down a corrupt Emperor? I don’t think their goal is peace.
Ainloth is the one who suggested Vellora and Tiss fly together. I think he is aware of Vellora’s shady connections, but she might not know that he knows. Maybe it’s his way of saying Vellora needs to get her stuff together. Do your shady business, but don’t be stupid enough to get caught. Now here’s your giant, dangerous babysitter. Remember why we’re here.
Let’s bring Tai into this. He wants peace. Really wants peace. He might genuinely care about the people of Ro’od. He might actually believe in a tolerant Zootopian world where everyone has a chance to peace and prosperity. He had his political marriage plan, then his whole dragon rider plan. But now his dad’s decided he wants Tiss for himself and to knock Tai down many pegs. Maybe even disinherit him from the throne. So what does that mean? Tai will eventually turn against his dad and join this effort to get rid of his dear papa. Keep making enemies, Foelh.
Anyway, Vellora and Lord Gudjan are key figures in this secret underground movement. My question is… is there a connection between them and the palace curse? Is the shadowy figure a palace mage working for this movement? 🤔
(Quick tangent: I’m not romancing Griaran, so I’m totally shipping her and Princess Laimir. If Griaran is a secret agent, it’d be a great way to bring Laimir into more of the story. Wouldn’t you like to see spoiled prissy open her eyes to the real world and actually do something with her long life? I would. 🙋♀️)
TTS | For Introverts — “There’s Someone in Ro’od Who Understands You”
I was so swept up by Tai’s impulsive, ardent affection earlier that I almost completely missed the quiet intimacy of Aldir’s second kiss scene.
“There’s someone in Ro’od who understands you.”
I suspect this scene will touch many introverts' hearts. With only a few simple words, Aldir sees the truth in Tiss without her needing to explain herself. And it feels like Tiss sees Aldir too.
His gentle treatment of her hair. Tiss’s teasing response. The warmth of the backdrop.
I didn’t expect the kiss-stealing spy’s scenes to feel this tender. 🌻
See how happy Aldir looks when Tiss doesn't reject having dinner with him.

who's your li in tts? What are your opinions on the spy elf becoming an li?
I only go for Male LIs and I didn't like any of them in the beginning but Prince Tai has grown up on me so much I love him now lol. I love his and MC's dynamic very much. The enemy prince trope makes it a perfect slow burn. Although Tai is a reserved little cocky douche, he's also very gentlemanly ykwim and isn't tooth-achingly sweet or open with MC which is what makes his character feel like a very close depiction of what somebody who grew up as the imperial prince would be like.
I like Sha'arnez too but I'm too lazy to make another slot for him, I hope we have a well written friendship route for him because his and MC's humour matches and their banter is fun.
So far, I did not find Aldir very interesting, I don't think he's very popular in the fandom either? Correct me if I'm wrong though. His scenes so far gave me the fling LI/ Incomplete branch vibe, sure his character design is your typical RC skinny white guy with long blonde hair ™ but I'm sticking with Tai for now.
While I personally am not interested in his route, I do not have an issue with Aldir's romance path being a complete branch either since it's not too late in the story, the ratio of the female and male LIs is not too bad and if the author could balance scenes with LIs then go for it I guess.
Confession:
I wish that the 2 male leads in Thunderstorm saga were not so similar personality wise. Couldn’t Tai or Sha’arnez have a less stoic personality? This is why some of us want Aldir as an love interest. At least in Psi the male leads were different from each other: Kay gave boy next door vibes, Ivo was the stoic one and Jonas the baddass.
Oh fuck off, Aldir! I liked you before this!
(Warning: spoilers)
Why do men think they can tell us what to do with our faces?
I smile when I have something to smile about! How bout you simply shut your mouth! So obnoxious!! 🤬🤬
Yeah, and then he kept talking!!
He’s a fun flirt, but still an ignorant, arrogant man. Without a doubt, Vellora would rather die in battle than have to sleep with Foelh and produce his heir.
Not to mention that Foehl made it very clear that Vellora was only good to him as leverage and as a baby making machine. As soon as he gets his male heir, she’s useless to him. Which, I’m sure is why the first two wives are dead.
Maybe Aldir should spend a night with Foelh and see if HE feels like smiling! 😡🤬
