Tri-Track Spring Rush
June 13, 2015 -- Race 7
The last race of the Series was at Mills Pond this past Saturday. A day mixed with sun, clouds and a great breeze, making it a comfortable mid June South Florida day. During our Boca Bearing $50 Gift Certificate raffle we had back-to-back younger racer wins with A.J. Reynolds last week and Zachary Friend this. Congratulations to all the winners. Every great racer needs a good set of bearings.
We ran our normal classes as the first win of the day in 2WD Stock Buggy went to Tom Allen by just over three seconds to Jeff Krantz. 2 WD Modified Buggy had no surprises today, Bart Collins easily took the round and then did it again and won Modified Stadium Truck. First time entering this series and playing spoiler, George Hernandez took the first round win in 4WD Modified Buggy by almost six seconds over Gavin "The Hammer" Butera. Pro 4 Modified SCT continued the battle between Daniel Paz and Jeff Krantz as we witnessed another epic fight between Losi and Tekno. At the end, it was Paz with the Losi winning the round by 2.560 over Krantz. E Buggy was another great bout with three full heats, but after all was said and done, it was Bart Collins on top by five seconds. Next up, Sportsman Nitro and James Wicker kept his dominating through round one. Pro Nitro Buggy, had Justin Fales showing up as spoiler and did just that.
Round 2 was next and Jeff Krantz would not be denied and handily won the TQ point over challenger Tom Allen. Bart Collins decided to take a break and not run in round 2 and the gamble paid off. Even though Mike Diaz won the race Bart's first round win was almost a full lap ahead. Bart's rest and relaxation strategy payed off again in Modified Stadium Truck. Loren Kretzschmar won the race but was another lap behind Collin's round 1 time. Daniel Chavez ran an impressive race, but he fell just under four seconds behind George's spoiler round 1 time as he took the TQ and the pole position in the "A" Main. The Pro 4 Modified SCT war ravaged on as Jeff Krantz ended up victorious, winning the point and the coveted number one spot in the basher class A Main. This time the racing gods were not on Bart's side and Daniel Paz got the point in E Buggy just over Bart's round one win by a mere 1.288. Mr. Consistent James Wicker once again got the win and TQ point in Sportsman Nitro Buggy. Pro Nitro Buggy had spoiler Justin Fales kept the TQ away from Luis Perez by the very thin margin of 0.085.
The Semi Main's began with the only C Main of the day. As the E Buggies went at it, Jessica Iler once again showed how cool and calm she has become under pressure and got the win and bumped along with second place finisher Mike Brown. The two B Main's were Pro 4 Modified SCT and E Buggy. Massimo Fabiani and Jessica Iler both bumped up in the short course, while Gavin "The Hammer" Butera and Franco Desiderio kept their E Buggy race day alive for one more round.
Finally, the Featured Mains began and in 2WD Stock Buggy Jeff Kranz and Tom Allen not only took first and second, but pretty much locked up their placements in the series. Jonathan Hutton with his third place finish is just one point ahead of Jared Cooper for the closest race margin left in this class. 2WD Modified Buggy once again had Bart Collins dominating with his forth TQ plus win to lock up the a 1st place trophy and race. Loren Kretzschmar ended in second and with the last two races still up for grabs could become a factor. Ending in third, Richard Johnston played spoiler very well. Modified Stadium Truck has been owned by Bart Collins in the last four races and as long as he shows up should win the class outright. Second place Jeff Krantz is in the same situation as Bart and must run the last two races. Loren Kretzschmar got to spoil the action by taking third place. George Hernadez and Lazi Janos both wanted to play spoilers and by grabbing the TQ, first and second place...they succeeded. Gavin Butera ending the day in third. It's starting to look like The Hammer has the 1st Place trophy in 4WD Modified Buggy nailed. After further review the Pro 4 Modified SCT class had to be decided the next day. Between loop issues and some last second contact, acting Race Director Tom Allen made the final call. Jeff Krantz won with the TQ. After all of Matt Kirkpatrick's laps were counted, he finished in second. Due to position-altering-overly-aggressive-driving within the final moments Gavin Butera was placed in third ahead of Daniel Paz. While the contact was incidental, it did impact the outcome of the final positions; therefore, flip-flopping the two cars involved without further penalization was a fair judgement. Whew! Bart Collins won E buggy and looks unstoppable for the big trophy. Jeff Krantz in the number two spot made his push to try to get in that top tier. Daniel Paz and his third place finish put his stamp on letting the class know, he wants a trophy too. During the Sportsman Nitro Buggy's A Main, young spoiler Brian Phillipps rained a bit on second place finisher James Wicker's parade, but with his four 101's he pretty much has the class locked up. Nick Cotugno got third place and he's in the running. Finally, Pro Nitro Buggy Alfredo Arietta and Justin False showed up to let the guys know that they came to play, by pushing Luis Perez all the way down to third.
Race 7 of the TRI-TRACK SPRING RUSH was the Mills Pond finale. Race 8 will be at TriCounty Hobbies on June 21, 2015.
