Fairywinkle + Cosma family trees (via GenoPro); click to enlarge
- Cosmo has distant von Strangle blood in his lineage in line with the episode “Cosmo Rules.”
- Cosmo’s uncle Harry and aunt Potter were revealed in the episode “The Fairy Beginning.” Although I consider that episode non-canon in my fanfics, I kept his aunt and uncle. He did live with them for a while and this will be discussed near the end of Frayed Knots.
- Wanda and Blonda are the product of an affair Big Daddy had on his honeymoon; their biological mother is a will o’ the wisp (Kylia). They were raised by their father’s wife, Serena Fairywinkle.
- No Schnozmo does not like it if you imply he named his daughter after his brother’s pet dragon.
- Blonda has taken a young celebrity, Westley, under her wing, though neither of them like talking about it publicly because... emotions.
- Someone who is biologically related to the Cosma family (but not emotionally connected with them) was not included on this tree because of mega spoilers.
- See also, Frayed Knots and/or “Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Pixies.”

Bio: Dusty was born only a thousand years after Poof. Siblings that close in age are very unusual in Fairy World, and this fact combined with his short height means he’s constantly mistaken for younger than he really is.
He’s a bubbly, cheerful kid who makes an active effort to be nice to others. He was class president throughout Spellementary School, loves the sport saucerbee, and has a passion for acting... Just like Poof! Which is exactly what he wants to hear!!! :)
Dusty honestly believes that being kind to others is the most important thing in the world, but he loathes nothing more than adults cooing over him for “following in his big brother’s footsteps” and “making his parents proud.” By the time he entered middle school, Dusty stopped running for class president, threw his saucerbee dreams away, and decided he would now and forever be the fast-talking, smartly dressed academic who flirts with everyone regardless of their subspecies- everything his popular, loyal-to-the-same-girl-for-life jock of a brother wasn’t.
He pretends to love math and science and has accidentally brought home several blue ribbons for his science projects... not that anyone ever compliments him on that.
Like Poof (of course), Dusty has a creative mind and would rather draw comics than crunch numbers. They would probably produce great work if they collaborated (Dusty creating artwork and Poof doing the writing), but the two don’t get along well enough for that.
From a young age, bitter jealousy towards his brother’s fame caused Dusty to push Poof away. In return, Poof sees Dusty as a brat who expects everything to be handed to him. They fought constantly as kids and actively avoided coming home at the same time when they had breaks from school (much to their parents’ distress).
After Faeheim was destroyed during the May Blossom War and their family lost their house, Poof spent most of his time with the Fairywinkle side of his family and Dusty with the Cosma side (They’re both a little possessive over “their” cousins).
As teenagers, Poof and Dusty have settled their differences enough to get along when they visit for the holidays, but existing in the same space for days on end always grinds on their nerves. They do love each other and have occasional flashes where they get along great, but jealousy will always be a major hurdle of their relationship (on both sides).
Poof and Dusty hung out in “Repeat.” Poof calls him Deedee... sometimes.
Dusty is a minor character in the 130 Prompts and Devil’s Backbone, with his main appearances being “Frozen,” “Live For the Moment,” and “Repeat.” He also plays a large role in Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Pixies.
He’s close friends with a gamer gal named Midnight. In their youth, they’re inseparable, and she becomes his girlfriend later in life.
Aside from art, Dusty also has an interest in tabletop RPG games and has run a great many campaigns for his friends. Here’s a bit of trivia: Poof’s concept name was Dusty. I loved the name and felt like it should stay in their family, so I designed this kiddo to fit it!
Dusty is named after Wanda’s father, Dusty Fairywinkle. He’s actually the third to hold this name, so he’s Dusty III.

Bio: Smoky is a cold, quiet anti-fairy born with the personality of a computer geek, but he’s trapped in a technological wasteland. As an adult he does obtain some high-tech devices and do some work with the Pixies, but in his youth, he found himself bored with everything non-electronic. He chose to channel his itching fingers into music and developed a love for piano.
As is typical in the Anti-Fairywinkle family, Smoky has a massive ego and will jump on every chance to brag about his skills. He hates practicing (claiming talent will get him through), but he still puts in the work and complains mostly for attention. He’s very passionate about piano... and his brother’s pipe organ.
Deep down, Smoky idolizes his super cool big brother and wants to be just like him. Not that he’ll ever tell you that...
When he isn’t engaged with his music, Smoky takes classes through the Anti-Fairy Academy program, turning in projects every year. He has no interest in attending Fairy schools, instead getting in touch with traditional Anti-Fairy culture as much as he cares to. Because of this, many Anti-Fairies look to him as the real hero of their people and an excellent future High Count; political arguments are often divided between him and Foop (and that’s not even counting those who believe the whole monarchy should be dissolved).
Although Foop is intelligent, he’s viewed as hotheaded and foolish whereas Smoky is thoughtful and cool-headed. If Foop doesn’t prove himself to be a fitting High Count when he’s older, the position will be handed to Smoky instead. Foop doesn’t feel nervous about this (After all, how could he, the great Foop, possibly lose out?) but you’ll often catch Smoky trying to goad him into doing something stupid just for the fun of it.
The brothers are not particularly close since neither trusts easily, but they’re both logical people and will join forces if it seems like the best option for their current project.
That said, Smoky wants nothing more in life than for his brother to bring him in on a giant scheme (and will sometimes try to wiggle his way in).
Smoky is a loner, much like Foop, but he sees the value of networking more than his stubborn brother does. Smoky is the one you’ll see circulating at parties, staring at you like he’s memorizing every feature of your face. He prefers to talk about himself. His favorite party trick is leaning against his beloved piano, cradling a glass of sparkling drink, and trying to subtly coax you to ask him to play something.
While Foop projects a Gothic vibe, Smoky projects a Classical one. He’s a flirt at parties, content to play with your head and heart until you’re not sure whether he’s smitten with you or whether he’d drop you off a cliff without a thought.
Smoky is a minor character in the 130 Prompts and Devil’s Backbone, with his main appearances being “Frozen,” “Live For the Moment,” “Final Stand,” “Forever,” “Piggyback,” “Bubbles,” “Reality Doesn’t Work That Way,” and “Reflection.”
Trivia: In my notes, I call most Anti-Fairies by their adult names, but I always call this kid Smoky, so he’s tagged on the blog as such. In-story, he does take on the name Anti-Dusty when he’s older like the proper Anti-Fairy he is... but he’s always been Smoky to me!
- Before he was Smoky, the concept name I gave him was Talon. This was later used for Anti-Westley so the name “Smoky” could better reflect Dusty.
