After losing three of the most important people in her life during V Day and Poppy’s hostage situation, as well as handfuls of other friends and students, Percy developed a pretty intense fear of losing the people around her which she dealt with in not great ways-namely, isolating herself away from people. When she was recruited to Kingsman she cut almost all contact with her family, save the occasional phone call to let them know she was still alive and vising for important holidays like yom kippur. She tried so hard to build up this suave, charming spy persona where she could flirt and laugh and banter without having to let anyone too close and lose them.
And then she met Red. Funny, beautiful, understanding Red. To be honest finding out that Red was also a spy was kind of a mixed blessing. On the one hand, at least she knew Red was trained to defend herself and that she was just as deadly as anyone that’d try and take her down. On the other hand, oh jeez, spying is a dangerous job and she really, really didn’t want to lose this amazing, talented and sexy woman that had come into her life.
In the end though, her feelings for Red out weighed her fear of losing her. Percy never really believed in the phrase “it’s better to have loved and lost” until she met Red, until she fell in love with Red and realised that even if the whole world fell down around them at least they’d had this. Being with Red helped her reconnect with her family, too, as she slowly learned to trust that she wasn’t about to lose everyone she cared about, and that’s something Percy couldn’t be more grateful for if she tried.
What it comes down to is this: Red makes Percy happier than she ever thought humanly possible. Every mission, every long day, every injury is worth it when she knows she’s going home to the woman she loves and who loves her. Asking Red to marry her wasn’t some big thing, it was just…inevitable, of course she wanted Red to marry her, of course they were going to get married. How could they not? Percy would die for Red, 100 times over, but more importantly she’ll live for her, she’ll look a bad guy square in the face and laugh at him because like hell is she going to die. Not when she has her wife to go back home to.

“Shit, you’re right.” Getting a super pumped up super car with a personal driver is one hell of a job perk. In training they’d spent hours on special tracks learning all of the wild stuff the Kingsman taxis could do. The icing on the cake though, is definitely getting to choose what music is going to play in it. Grinning she scrolls through spotify before adding crazy in love to her playlist. “Gotta avoid if I were a boy though, way too much teenage angst stuck on that one.”
