Another reason I think Roy vs Rem will be a thing is that Roy has got to be pissed at Ram for killing his brother, and while he could try and kill Ram directly for it, clearly the best way to get back at her is by killing her sister first.

So if Aldebaran is Subaru's brother, then Al knows exactly how much Subaru's disappearance hurt Naoko and Kenichi.

However can he imagine how much it hurt them the second time?

Spoilers for the most recent Re:zero chapter

I thought this when the interlude came out in the LN, but this chapter just reinforced the thought in my head further. It bothered me that when Sphinx became Echidna, she didn't use her name, only her title as the witch of greed, and now the newest chapter does this again while even drawing attention to it as Sphinxdona states she doesn't know what to call herself. I think Sphinx is lying to herself when she says she has finally managed to become Echidna, and deep down she recognizes that, which is why she doesn't use her name. The reason for why she's doing this is simple: she HAS to be someone other than Sphinx, as the existence that is "Sphinx" is being burned away by the yang sword.

This is even supported by how she transformed as well. She became this false Echidna by destroying all her duplicates in Vollachia to add their experiences together, but logically, adding Sphinx to Sphinx doesn't make an Echidna... it just makes her more Sphinx. This Echidna is nothing more than a mask she's wearing in order to survive.

Interestingly, back when Subaru was acting as Natsumi Schwartz, Abel had some strong opinions on masks, in particular that you cannot run from yourself forever, and that all masks eventually break.

I'm really interested in how upcoming Re:Zero episodes are going to handle sound design for Aldebaran's authority. Are they just going to use the same sound effect as Subaru's? Personally, I've always imagined his being more glitchy and electronic sounding, like the simulator he refers to as his "thought experiment" erroring out.

If my "name change causes authority change" theory is true, then I wonder if Natsumi Schwartz can die.

Arc 7 taught us Subaru and the Witch of Envy can have two different save points. Now, does that mean Satella and the Witch of Envy have different save points, and if so, where is the checkpoint?
