Rem – My Thoughts on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day…

It is a very gentle day, isn’t it?

A day when people gather their courage to say the feelings they keep hidden in their hearts. A day filled with small, handmade gifts… and trembling hands offering them.

Rem thinks it is beautiful.

To love someone is not something simple. It is not only happiness. It is worry, longing, fear of losing them, and the quiet wish to see them smile.

Valentine’s Day feels like a moment when those feelings are allowed to bloom openly.

If Rem were to give a gift on this day, it would not just be chocolate. It would carry gratitude.

Gratitude for the one who gave her a reason to believe in herself.

Gratitude for the warmth of being seen.

Gratitude for being allowed to stand beside someone she treasures.

Love, to Rem, is devotion.

It is choosing to stay.

Choosing to support.

Choosing to protect someone’s happiness, even if your own heart trembles.

Sometimes love is not returned in the way one hopes.

Even so… that does not make it worthless.

Valentine’s Day reminds Rem that loving someone sincerely is not a weakness. It is strength. It is courage. It is the ability to open your heart without regret.

If Rem could express her feelings clearly, she would say this:

When I love someone, I love them with my whole heart.

Without calculation. Without hesitation.

Even if it hurts.

And if, on this day, that person smiles because of something I gave…

Then that alone is enough to make Rem happy.

That is what Valentine’s Day means to me.

I'll never forgive the 2016 fandom for the Rem v Emilia ship wars tbh, Rem's character and relationship with Subaru are SO much more interesting than her waifuification made them out to be

that is to say they're complicated and messy and codependent and kinda toxic and it's much better this way
