Honestly the build up to the end of the (2nd) most recent chapter filled me with dread.

I thought Petra was going to be a husk even after the reset, showing that melancholy is permanent.

Call me slow for not realizing this sooner but:

• The gluttony triplets hated merchants

• The white whale obeyed the triplets

• Merchants were disproportionately affected by the white whale

I just found it odd that the concern was that the whale would attack trade routes and not, like, erase a town from existence.

maybe hoshin as russel he has hoshins dp and is evil enough ( plus the fact that the riot in flanders side story which had russels group involved )

or anastasia who needs dragon blood ( I doubt anastasia) both merchants

think satella is Subaru, Return by Death is the power of the Witch of Envy, and Al's plan seems to be to permanantly seal Subaru similar to the Witch of Envy's fate

but anastasia is in kasaragi which is where aldebaran is going

Thoughts underneath:

I've seen this theory brought up a few times, but this is the first place I've seen Subaru being counted as part of the crew, and I like it a lot. However, if we are counting Subaru as "Satella," then we should probably be counting Beatrice as well, perhaps as "Echidna."

I'm really interested in how upcoming Re:Zero episodes are going to handle sound design for Aldebaran's authority. Are they just going to use the same sound effect as Subaru's? Personally, I've always imagined his being more glitchy and electronic sounding, like the simulator he refers to as his "thought experiment" erroring out.

Arc 7 taught us Subaru and the Witch of Envy can have two different save points. Now, does that mean Satella and the Witch of Envy have different save points, and if so, where is the checkpoint?

Re:zero world probably has folk stories where the clocks go into yin time or yang time, kinda like some 13th hour stuff.

Another reason I think Roy vs Rem will be a thing is that Roy has got to be pissed at Ram for killing his brother, and while he could try and kill Ram directly for it, clearly the best way to get back at her is by killing her sister first.

So if Aldebaran is Subaru's brother, then Al knows exactly how much Subaru's disappearance hurt Naoko and Kenichi.

However can he imagine how much it hurt them the second time?

This is based off my repeating arcs theory.

I wasn't sure at first if Arc 8 was suppose to be the mirror to arc 4 at first due to the introduction of Echidna, but after @artbyfinnbrown pointed out the similar ends of 3 and 8 (particularly that top notch Rem and Priscilla comparison), I'm convinced 9 is the next 4.

Arc 9 has also already had alot of big mirrors setup to 4. Otto with the book of wisdom recently complaining about Subaru saving everyone rather than Roswaal, Subaru's group attempting to talk to the dead (Echidna/Priscilla), even melancholy and vanity both being in close proximity (Clind in main/Pandora in sidestory). But I believe the most important mirror is the current locations of everyone.

In arc 4 the camp was split in two locations with Subaru forced to pick between the two. Arc 9 so far has the entire Emilia camp split into four different locations if you count Subaru's group at the tower, but I don't actually think something bad is going to happen there.

The reason I think the narrative has brought Subaru to the tower right now is because the library of Taygeta is the quickest way for Subaru to see all of the seperate Emilia camp groups across Lugunica have been killed, and he will be forced to pick between the three.

I can already see Subaru trying to turn himself back into a child at the first sign of trouble in arc 9 and realizing he can't.

Subaru should have had long hair in arcs 5+ because he is definitely the kind of person who would wait for Rem to wake up so she would cut his hair like she did at the end of arc 2.

If my "name change causes authority change" theory is true, then I wonder if Natsumi Schwartz can die.
