i'm... really disappointed with the new season of rezero. everything feels so flat to me. my favourite character feels crumpled like a wad of gum chewed up and stuck to the bench at your local bus stop. i sad :(

honestly the fact that subaru gets away with half the shit he does is really interesting because it's clear that other characters clearly view him as some kind of lolicon/pervert and are seemingly still kinda willing to work with him anyways and don't think too much about it...

if anything it's more the impropriety that's important, having to work with this utter buffoon rather than any sort of aversion to his behaviour...

i have a lot of thoughts about this new re:zero season generally. there's a certain bluntness to everything where i'm not sure if it's just that i've read ahead and thus know what's going to happen, or that they're really just crunched for time and trying to lay out as many plot threads as possible at once, because pristella is pretty fucking long and complex in the novels (two entire books are dedicated just to a single sequence of events later on for instance)
