and, in terms of american politics, people have been on the lookout for the american nazi party, taking it as granted that there is nowhere left for the american right to go but there, which i would also grant, but then running into the snag that there doesnt seem to be any hitlers in waiting in the right wing establishment. and sometimes that takes the form of "well okay if its not the republicans then maybe itll be the democrats" and that seems absurd too. i think for this process to unfold in that way there needs to be a collapse of the two-party system and thats actually what im looking for

i think the reform party (1995-2000) is instructive of, both the current moment (a number of significant figures from that movement would go on to shape the form of politics today, the reform ideology prefigures the libertarian atheist right that would go on to dominate the online right wing influencer sphere in 2016, hostile takeover by those more ideologically committed to a reactionary project, donald trump), and how a third party could have a realistic shot at breaking its way into the two-party system. the PSL is certainly trying, from the left, to mixed success (by the admittedly modest goals they set for themselves), so if there is to be an american burger reich its most likely to be from the current republican coalition fracturing and an insurgent fascist figure taking power, but also we already live in burger reich so its still kind of ???
