June 6 - Rikka Yarai
St. Marcellin Champagnat: French priest who is known as the founder of the Marist Brothers of the Schools (Marist Brothers), a religious congregation of brothers in the Catholic Church devoted to Mary and dedicated to education. Born in the year of the storming of the Bastille, the start of the French Revolution. The religious, political, economic and social unrest of the times he lived influenced his priorities and life path. Beatified by Pope Pius XII in 1955 and canonized by Pope St. John Paul II in 1999, he is the patron saint of education, teachers and simplicity.
July 3 - Shiro Ukima
St. Thomas the Apostle: According to the New Testament, he is one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and is informally referred to as 'Doubting Thomas' because he doubted Jesus' resurrection when first told (only to be found in the Gospel of John), and followed later by his confession of faith on seeing Christ's wounded body with these words: 'My Lord and my God! (John 20:28)' Thomas is believed to have traveled outside the Roman Empire to preach the Gospel after Christ's ascension, travelling as far as Tamilakam which are the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in present-day India. After he receive the crown of martyrdom (in which his attribute is a spear), the reputed relics were enshrined as far as Mesopotamia in the 3rd century, and later moved to various places.
August 2 - Mikado Aoyagi
St. Peter Julian Eymard: French priest and founder who has the monicker of 'Apostle of the Eucharist', and is known as the founder of two religious institutes: the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament for men and the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament for women. Canonized by Pope St. John XXIII in 1962, his major shrine can be found in Church of SS. Claudius and Andrew of the Burgundians, one of the national churches in Rome dedicated to France.
April 12 - Sora Henmi
Pope St. Julius I: 35th successor of St. Peter who reigned for 15 years and is credited with splitting the birth of Christ into two distinct celebrations (Epiphany and the Nativity) as well as asserting the authority of the pope over the Arian Eastern bishops. After his death in 352 AD, he is succeeded by Pope Liberius.
September 12 - Yukiya Amahashi
The Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary: This Marian feast day is an optional memorial celebrated in the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church and it has been a universal Roman Rite feast since 1684, when Pope Innocent XI included it in the General Roman Calendar to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Vienna in 1683. Promoters of veneration of the Holy Name of Mary including Anthony of Padua, Bernard of Clairvaux and Alphonsus Liguori. Its objective is to commemorate all the privileges bestowed upon Mary by God and all the graces received through her intercession and mediation.
