Have we ever thought about how good of a character Malcolm Myers would be if he was on the game and not just a mere joke character... that was my thought when i first made whatever the fuck this is out of absolute boredomness (and a sprinkle of fanaticism).
I may be insane but if someone must give a obscure character some sort of attention then that will be me! (and other 1,3 people)
Let me present you a completely unnecessary personality analysis (translated a bit roughly from the original script I made) on a character no one gives a damn fuck about based on absolutely little to no information about him.
Core Personality Traits: from what we see in his brief spotlight, Malcolm screams desperate opportunist. He's not a world-shaker like Ky or a Gear powerhouse like Testament, he's the everyman scrapper eking out an existence in the shadows of giants.
(Dwelling a bit onto his appearance;) Bald head under that hood, gas mask for the toxic wastelands (theory), and a backpack that's basically his entire life (snail-shell vibes imply he's nomadic, always on the move).
His custom lance (?), staff with a chain sickle and that eerie glowing lantern suggests he's resourceful, piecing together weapons from scavenged junk, maybe infused with backyard magic or black-market tech. But his big swing... ambushing Sol Badguy, the literal bounty hunter legend, with a shank. That's not bravery, that's reckless impulsivity born from hunger or spite.
Survivalist with a Chip on His Shoulder: In a world ravaged by Gears and ruled by the strong, Malcolm's probably a product of the fringes, maybe orphaned in the Crusades, scraping by in Illyria's underbelly or the lawless zones beyond. His W$30,000 bounty marks him as small-time: not a mastermind, just a thief, smuggler, or hitman who's pissed off the wrong locals.
Personality-wise, I'd peg him as bitter and cynical, the type who resents the "heroes" like Sol for hogging the glory while folks like him starve. He talks big (that "handsome devil" vibe from his wanted poster hints at sardonic self-deprecation or just believing way too highly of himself), but it's a front for deep insecurity. Getting wrecked by Sol and Jack-O' and then forced into labor, that'd amplify his grudge, turning him into a guy who's always scheming for a comeback, no matter how futile.
Overconfident Underdog: He charges in with that lance like he actually stands a chance; pre-fight aggression screams hot-headed bravado. But one tap and he's down, which points to fragility masking bravado. Maybe he's got some latent magic (that lantern isn't just for show; could be a weak Ki or mana siphon idfk), but it's unreliable, flaring up in bursts before fizzling.
Psychologically, he's the archetype of the perpetual loser who refuses to quit: resilient in spirit, but physically outmatched. Think a mix of Johnny's swagger minus the skill, or Zato's scheming without the syndicate / guild backing. He's got heart, but it's buried under layers of sarcasm and self-sabotage.
Lonely Nomad Vibes: The hooded coat, mask, and solo ambush suggest isolation. No crew, no allies, he's a lone wolf by necessity, distrustful after betrayals or losses. But deep down, there might be a flicker of yearning for connection. In Strive's themes of humanity vs. gears, Malcolm represents the overlooked humans: not empowered by the Conclave, nor augmented like Potemkin. He's raw, flawed, and human, and maybe with a dry wit that endears him to unlikely friends if given the chance. Imagine him cracking wise while tied up, or bonding over shared misery in forced labor.
Overall, he's not a villain or hero; he's tragic comic relief in a serious wrapper, a reminder that not everyone gets a redemption arc (COUGH). His personality drives home Guilty Gear's grit: survival ain't pretty, and sometimes you're just the guy who gets curb-stomped to show how OP the mains are. But expand that, and he's got potential for depth: resentment turning to growth, or spiraling into villainy
okay, i’m gonna get this off of my chest before i turn on asks for tomorrow, so please READ.
it really bothers me when people think that on my blog you can just fucking debate and start arguments with whoever you want. my blog isn’t a fight space for you people, and it’s disrespectful as fuck that some of you think it’s your place to talk shit about one another on here. it’s so fucking annoying when some of you do this. i’m not sure how old you all are, but i hope you’re at an age where you’re mature enough to realize that is not okay. please understand that, unless this applies to me, do not fucking bring it here.
second thing i want to go over is to stop fucking beefing with people on my account. it’s so fucking stupid to be beefing with somebody who you, for one, don’t even know, and probably have never met. my blog is not a fucking place for you to talk shit. take that shit elsewhere and MOVE ON. either come off anon and sort it out through dms, or shut the fuck up. you’re getting absolutely nowhere by talking shit through anonymous.
so, please, grow up and move the fuck on. if people continue to do this, i will turn off my asks indefinitely, and i will even cancel things. it’s also not fair to those who actually have nice things to say and to those who genuinely want to speak to me.
think about your actions before doing it. grow up, and do better.
