Billy Russo playlist (HC)
@agent-bossypants asked this a while ago, and I spent some time thinking about it. I’m not 100% happy with it, but:
This is my HNH Billy’s playlist.
Billy, in my mind is in his mid 30’s. This is a mixture of current music and music that I think Billy would have listened to growing up. I see him as super angry and angsty as a teenager, and at the mercy of the older kids in the group home listening to things on the radio when he was younger… until he joined the Marines and was able to get his hands on a portable CD player - and then an iPod. As he entered his 20’s, I see his musical tastes mellowing out just a bit - but in my mind, he’s not the type of man to sit around and listen to calming music - no jazz, no country, no oldies (he can appreciate a good song in one of these genres, but he’s not going to go out of his way to listen).
Billy listened to a lot of grunge. A lot of rock. A lot of music that allowed him to get lost in something that wasn’t his own thoughts. There are some nods to the happy times he had - in high school, in the early Marines years, even one or two that he remembers some of his favorite foster parents and group home employees listening to.
Music for Billy has to be full of the emotions that he knows and is comfortable with, because they make him feel things. Additionally: I feel like he’d probably have a lot of other music by these bands on his iPod too, but these songs are the ones that stuck out to me.
These are in alphabetical order by band name, because I was spending WAAAAY too much time trying to put them into the perfect order.
