If you're friends with a writer and they show you a story they wrote, don't tell them you don't like it.

Seriously, say anything but you don't like it, say it's not your taste but its really interesting, tell them it's well written and thanks for sharing. If it's a subject that upsets you, tell them!

But if it's something you're just not in the mood for, don't say you don't like it. It's crushing.

If you want your favorite original fiction or fan fiction to update on a regular basis, leave feedback. We writers are like small children and dogs, positive reinforcement will pretty much guarantee that we will repeat this behavior you like.

Zero positive reinforcement turns us into cats. Writer cats who are aloof, sleep constantly, and kill things (characters) out of frustration.
