MUNCHKIN AND GAVIN
In His Embrace
Gavin x Female Reader
Prompt: You were being stalked for months; your mental state slowly deteriorating. You felt yourself spiraling so you called the one person you could trust.
TW: Mentions of Stalking, Harassment, Paranoia, Panic Attacks
There it was, another “gift” left outside your apartment door. Your hairs stood on end; the ground beneath felt like it had shifted. With shaking hands you grabbed a tissue and opened the box. Tears started flowing as you looked down in horror at its contents. In it lay several pictures of you from today. Some were from this morning others from the afternoon. But there was one picture from this evening; it was of you entering your apartment building 10 minutes ago. Next to the picture was a note — the contents of which made your stomach drop.
You look lovely as usual. But you’d look even better in the dress I got you.
Yours eyes widened, your breathing became labored as you read the last line.
Look inside beautiful.
The box fell from your hands; you scrambled to get your keys from your purse. Fumbling with the lock your heart raced and as you opened the door your purse fell to the floor with a resounding thud. As you looked upon the red dress laying on the side of your couch you collapsed onto the floor. Legs folded under you the dread that you filled you made you feel heavier than lead. They were inside. They were inside your home. They could still be there.
When the thought crossed your mind you rushed out. Quickly slamming and locking the door; you gripped onto the knob resting your forehead on the door. You focused your gaze on the ground, trying to catch your breath. But the world was spinning, everything was blurring together. The tears that fell hot and heavy from your eyes didn’t help either. You ripped your hand away from the handle and gripped at the collar of your shirt. Breath that was once coming out in quick, small puffs elongated. With your free hand you took out your phone, squinting at the bright screen and started dialing.
You waited, and waited. Each ring felt like it was longer than the last. You felt another wave of trepidation was about to consume you, until you heard a click.
“Hello?,” Gavin answered groggily. His voice was the lifeboat in your turbulent sea of fear.
“G-Gavin. I’m a-at h-h-ome—,” you choked. No tears left to cry; your eyes burned.
“What’s wrong? Hey what happened?,” he pleaded.
You tried so hard to respond, but your sobs locked the words in your throat. Another fit of trembling took you over and you lost your grip on your phone. It fell on the floor and you with it. Gavin became panicked, you heard him yelling, almost screaming. You only heard every other word, however his last sentence was clear.
“Stay there, I’m coming to get you!”
~~~~~~~~
Within moments you heard frantic foot steps coming your way. You stiffened; slowly turning your head in their direction. Upon seeing who they belonged to your tensed muscles relaxed. Gavin swept you up in his arms; one hand between your shoulders, an arm under your knees. While he carried you off the ground, you tightly wrapped your arms around his neck. His hand came to your face giving soft caresses to your wet cheeks. You closed your eyes and steadied your breathing with every stroke. He whispered tender comforts in your ear, with each one you felt yourself unwind more.
“Please, talk to me, tell me what hap—,” he paused. His foot knocked against the box dragging his gaze down. His eyes widened, eyebrows and nose creasing, rage filled his being. A gust of wind radiated from him and knocked the box three doors down. His grip on you tightened only to contract as you winced in pain. He muttered several apologies; cursing himself.
The words spilled out of you, the dam holding them back shattering completely. You told him about the past few months, sharing your hell with him. Explaining to him how for the first couple of months you felt like you were being followed. Your paranoia grew with the first “gift” you received. The box was wrapped in glossy black paper and adorned with a red ribbon. It contained one picture of you at a coffee shop receiving your order. In addition to a note telling you how beautiful you were. The “gifts” kept coming for a week after that. Each one containing more pictures than the last and a single note praising you. After the third time you reported it to the police. They were of no use, telling you that since no fingerprints were found they would be hard to track. All they told you was to be careful and travel in crowded places. Simply put, they couldn’t spare any time trying to catch one stalker.
“They were inside Gavin. T-they p-put a dress on my couch. They might still be there,” your voiced lowered to a whisper.
Gavin set you down on your feet gently, and whipped out his gun. You heard the click of the safety switch and watched as he barged into your apartment. Gun steady in hand, raising it to eyelevel as he scoped your place. Starting in the kitchen, then the living room, and finally your bedroom. You cautiously followed behind him, stopping when he entered your bedroom. His face stern, his breathing as steady as his grip on his gun. His stance stiffened when he heard a thud in your bathroom. Swinging the door open, he swiftly brought his gun back up. Once he saw the cause of the noise was a shampoo bottle, he lowered and tucked away his gun. Letting his hands fall to his sides and his shoulders slump.
He turned to you and spotted the dress over your shoulder. His eyes lit up, an inferno burning in them as he looked at it with disgust. Every fiber of his being wanted to burn the damn thing and shove the ashes down the harassers throat. But his mentality as a police officer took over and he pulled gloves over his hands. He went to the kitchen and retrieved an empty trash bag and shoved the source of your dismay in. Then he quickly retrieved the box from outside and shoved in it. He disposed of his gloves and placed the bag on the counter. Gavin strode towards your trembling body and brought you into a gentle embrace. You could tell he had questions. Why didn’t you tell him, or how could you not were probably some. But he just stood there holding you, letting you sob into his chest.
“I’m gonna stay the night. I want to make sure you’re safe,” he stated. Gavin wasn’t giving you a choice, and to be honest you were completely fine with it. Being alone right now felt like a death sentence.
“Thank you,” you breathed.
He swept you up once more and carried you into your bedroom. He placed you on the bed and you turned to face him. You gave him a small smile, which quickly faded when he turned to leave.
“I’ll take th—,” he was interrupted by your hand grasping tightly onto his sleeve. The soft denim being pinched inbetween his fingers. He looked down at you inquisitively.
“My—my bed is big enough for two,” you said; answering his silent question. Averting your gaze from his to your nightstand.
Gavin looked down at you perplexed. He never expected you to ask him that. Given his past he always thought you were afraid of him. But here you were, imploring him to stay with you. You could see the gears turning in his head; trying to process the implications of your request.
“I-it’s not like that! Please I just—“ you hugged your sides and looked up at him with those big eyes he loved so much.
“—I want you to hold me. Hold me till I fall asleep, please. You can leave me once I’m asleep, I don’t care! But please I just want to held right now!” You screamed. Desperation clear on your face.
Seeing you like this broke his heart. You could see his eyes glistening with tears threatening to escape. He removed your hand and walked over to the other side of your bed. Gavin layed down next you, and flipped you over to face him. Your pain evident as he examined your face closely. Dark bags hung under your eyes, and your face was thinner. He brought you closer to him, with your head on his chest once more. You wrapped your arms around him, and buried yourself in him.
“I’m not going anywhere. I promise.”
Wow you guys are really liking some of the fics and headcanons I’ve done. Even though there’s only 4 of them—5 if you count this one. I’m currently working on the second part of A Chance Encounter, so that should be out soon. If this piece gets over 50 notes I’ll write a second part. Thanks for all the support! You have no idea how much it means to me. I’m not the worst at writing, but I’m not the best. So I’ll continue to write and improve my skills!
Characters- Unnamed children, named child, Gavin Reed, Reader
Warnings- Scar mentions, pregnancy
You walk in to the classroom and begin setting up for the lesson planned today. You had a few minutes until the kids got there since you had been late. Soon after you had gotten everything set up there were parents lining up at the door. You went over and opened it, greeting the kids that you had been teaching for a few months now. As they began to come in and sit down on the mat after their parents say goodbye you smile at them. You greet all of them and begin playing music on the speakers. Child-friendly, of course. After the whole class is in the classroom you stand in front of the children and tell them to stretch with you. Reaching towards the ceiling then down towards the ground. They follow along except for the few that are looking into the distance. There's a knock on the door of the classroom and you jog over to open it. Your husband, Gavin, is there and you bring him in.
"Hey, look at that!" You bring the attention over to you. "This is a police officer, say hello to Detective Reed!"
The kids respond with a collective "Hello Detective Reed" And he smiles at the kids. You lead him over to the front the classroom and give him a smile.
"Oh, this isn't one of those classes is it?" He asks, eyes pleading.
"It is," You smirk "Today we're gonna be learning all about what he does!" You say, feigning excitement. Then there's another knock at the door. You open it and theres a co-worker of yours with a red-faced kid, tears still running down his cheeks.
"He got upset since he couldn't meet Mr. Police Officer. Can you take him for a second?" The teacher asks you, guilty tone to their voice. You lean down to the child's level and ask his name.
"C-Cameron." He sniffles and you take his small hand in yours.
"Well, Cameron, you're gonna meet Mr. Police Officer now! Isn't that exciting?" You ask and Cameron smiles, nodding. You pick him up, resting him on your hip, and carry him over to Gavin. Your boyfriend sighs and waves as you put him down. Gavin kneels and rests on the balls of his feet as he picks him up. You snicker at the mistake he made.
"How old are you Cameron?" Gavin asked, faking a smile.
Cameron held up 4 fingers and said "3!" Gavin put him down, laughing at his mistake.
Then one of your kids said "I wanna be picked up too!" And Gavins face dropped as the other kids joined in. You clap and announce that he's going to pass around his badge.
"I am?" He asked, puzzled.
"Yep. Gimme." You held out your hand and he reluctantly placed it into your palm. You toss it to the nearest kid as he sighs.
"How do I interact with children?" He whispers to you.
"Brag about your strength and pick up three at a time. One in each arm and one on your back. Easy." He shrugged, cocky grin on his face as he faced the kids.
"Who wants to test how strong I am?" Kids started jumping up from their position on the floor as he gets ready to pick up some of the kids. Half of the kids are marvelling at his badge while the other half is arguing over who he picks up first. You hear him calm them down and stretch his arms out. Kids loop their hands around the limb and one clambers onto his back. He stands up with a grunt and T-poses with children hanging from his arms.
"Asserting your dominance, I see." You joke. He laughs and has to resist bending over.
"Don't bring that back, that was a terrifying time." He smiles, kneeling back down to put the kids down. Three new kids grab onto him and he gets back up. After two more rounds of him showing off his strength he puts kids down and takes his badge back.
"Alright, tell us a story." You say, leaning back on your arms. He raises his eyebrows.
"A story?" He hums in thought. "I have a lot of stories." He appeals to the kids and cracks his neck. "Do you want to hear about these two?" He lifts his shirt to show the scars under his pectorals from when he got top surgery. You smile as the kids yell in affirmation. He begins to tell an over-the-top story about a dual wielding thief attacking him. It ends with him fighting the criminal and throwing him in jail. The kids cheer and clap. Then the kid from earlier, Cameron, raises his hand.
"How'd you get the one on your nose?" He asks and you stifle a laugh. He got it from a bar fight and you both knew it.
"I got that from..." He looked to you for assistance and you sighed.
"My mom." You smile. "How many of you have seen your mom mad?" Almost every kid raised their hand. "Is she scary?" They all nodded. "Well, Mr. Police Officer didn't think so, he talked back to my mom and you know what she did? She nicked him with her knife! Now he'll always have that reminder to respect people." You say, hands clasping together. You glare at him. "Isn't that right, Gavin?" You say through clenched teeth. He nods, remembering how he had intentionally spilled coffee on you the first time you two met.
"If I pay you back in kisses will you forgive me?" He asks.
You hum a "Maybe." He smiles and kisses you on the cheek.
The kids let out a collective "Ew!" With a few "He has cooties!" From the girls and "She has cooties!" From the boys. You both chuckle at that.
"Well, that means if I touch you then you'll get cooties too!" You stand up and begin walking towards the kids. They stand up and begin running from you. Gavin watches from his spot on the ground as you chase them at a slowed pace. Gavin pulls out his phone and takes a picture of you chasing the kids. He smiles fondly at the moment and sets it as his wallpaper. He then puts his phone away as a kid hides behind him.
"Don't tell her I'm here!" The kid whispers. He smiles.
"I won't." He whispers back. You continue to chase them until you realize one kid is missing.
"Where'd she go?" You ask, looking to Gavin.
"I have no idea." He says, obviously hinting that she was behind him. At the end of the day you both were exhausted as the parents picked up their kids. As soon as they all left you hugged Gavin and buried your face in his neck.
"You did good. I'm proud of you." You said, smiling.
"You think?" He asks, rubbing your back soothingly. You pull away and nod.
"In fact, so proud of you, I have a surprise for you." He raises an eyebrow as you walk over to your bag. He follows you as you pick it up and dig around in it. Finally you pull out a pregnancy test and hand it to him. He looks at it and his eyes widen. He doesn't say anything for a few seconds as his jaw drops and he looks at you.
"You're joking." He says. You shake your head no and he covers his mouth with his hand.
"Are you okay?" You ask, nervous of what his reaction would be. He gained tears in his eyes and smiled wide.
"I'm gonna be a dad!" He yelled, kissing you full on the lips as you both smile. He pulled away and rested his forehead against yours, placing his hands on your stomach. The tears started rolling down his cheeks as you held him.
"Are you crying?" You ask, surprise clear in your voice.
"Happy tears." Gavin voice cracks as he wipes his eyes on your shoulder. You smile as he hugs you tighter. This would be perfect.
ok finally home and settled so here are some gavin x reader thoughts I've had:
shes a genius like photographic memory, earned a full academic scholarship before she was even considered for the hockey team, engineering major and in honors college genius
first girl to ever play for umich men's hockey team and is slaying while doing it
gavin is obsessed with her follows her around like a little puppy dog
shes also whipped for gavo and she comes off cold and unfriendly to most but she melts for that boy so fast
she can puke and rally like no other i have some ideas about this one
grew up in michigan played for the NTDP plays D and since the NTDP she only will play with seamus as her partner (when she joins the league and has to be separated from shea there are a lot of tears shed)
ellen hughes loves her (met her at a little caesers event) and she is now basically a hughes sister
she has a younger brother who is 15 and idolizes the ground she walks on he doesn't play hockey but she is proud of him regardless
WHILE BEING THE FIRST GIRL ON THE UMICH HOCKEY TEAM
she’s def his answer in todays monday question
“my girlfriend! i don’t really understand what she studies, but she studies with holtzy all the time. and she’s just super smart, and pretty.”
that is exactly what he says (omitting the gf part ofc; they keep that out of all the socials part of being on the umich hockey team)
"oh i'd choose y/n," he looks at his girlfriend off camera with the BIGGEST CHEESIEST smile on his face, "shes really smart and whitty so she'll be funny and keep me out of trouble,"
and you can hear luca and rutger gagging as they go up the stairs but you just smile at gavin before putting yourself in frame,
"i would pick holtzy because we can just outsmart everyone,"
she then turns and heads into the hallway to the locker room gavin pouting following and yelling as she goes, as everyone else breaks into laughter
thinking about y/n following lauren up to her desk after practice instead of going back to her apartment with adam and gavin because she gets so sick of being around the boys all the time
so she'll sit under laurens desk and read her book or watch a show lauren even eventually gets her a small beanbag chair to sit in, and everyone knows not to bother the player
https://www.tumblr.com/dylan-duke/729483874350120960/and-immediately-gavin-knows-gavin-has-to-stay-with
and when she wakes up all she wants is gav :(
its been 2 and a half weeks since the accident and y/n has not woken up yet. so steve, logan, gavin and y/ns mom have been switching off who's sitting in the room with her.
currently steve had his textbook open on his lap as he completed some of his practice problem.
"gagh," an unfamiliar voice groans causing his head to pop up,
"firecracker?" he asks softly,
"gav?" steve puts his textbook to the side reaching for y/n,
"no its steve,"
"gav," she repeats again eyes filling with tears, "gav," steve lets out a breath,
"ok ok i'll text gavin ok? hes in class then i'll go get the doctor," y/ns eyes flutter shut as she takes her good hand to clutch to her blanket,
"gav," she mutters once more as she falls back asleep.
What if she has a lot of problems with her parents and one night they end up kicking her brother out the house. He’s immediately running to his big sister but can’t find her so the guys end up comforting him. when she comes home she’s beyond pissed at her parents but puts that aside to hold her brother. Those guys plus Gavin don’t leave her side until she’s better
y/n runs out of the house, not even bothering to tell the boys where shes going, and gets into her car, speeding towards her hometown.
"what just happened?" rutger asked looking at gavin, who shrugs,
"all i know is that her brother called but..." he trails off watching as his girlfriends car flies around the corner.
