My favourite find from 2024 was this 1923 collection of Reader's Digest Magazines, which advertise trips to countries like Palestine and the Philippines.

Long before the apartheid Zionist state existed, Palestine was a popular tourist destination to Reader's Digest readers.

There is truly nothing that screams "refreshment" quite like peeling yourself out of a thick, rubberized 1960s wetsuit just to enjoy a room-temperature lemon-lime soda. This ad captures that specific mid-century moment where scuba diving was the height of glamorous "space-age" leisure, because apparently, the best way to "get unthirsty" after being surrounded by a literal ocean of water is to consume carbonated sugar while wearing forty pounds of lead and neoprene. Note the guy on the right: he’s managed to keep his diving mask on his forehead while drinking, a level of commitment to the "scuba-chic" aesthetic that we can only hope to achieve.
