📜I’m used to avoid spoilers at all costs, and I hate those who share them. In Italy we’d say “c’è un girone dell’inferno per quelli che fanno spoiler” (“there’s a Circle in Hell for those who do spoilers” linked to the Divine Comedy). But a great book is one that we can appreciate even when we already know the ending. In these case we do know the story but it’s retold in a fresh way. Madeline Miller’s “The Song of Achilles” is a retelling of Iliad by Homer but from Patroclus’s POV. Achilles is not a God, he has a human side and so he’s deeply conflicted. We see him trough Patroclus’s eyes, growing from a privileged child (a bully) to a young man who has the weight of the Country on his shoulders, a guy who is destined for greatness but sill, as a human being, he has his feelings. #read #readind #book #books #historicalnovel #bookish #booklover #bookcommunity #bookphoto #bookrewie #bookstagram #bookworm #instabook #bookoftheday #bibliophile #booksinpictures #mybookfeatures #picoftheday #thesongofachilles #lacanzonediachille #madelinemiller #madelinemillerbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CCInd9YgpO8/?igshid=1j2w2ia3l6r4
🐍 Today I wanna talk about “The ninth house” by Leigh Bardugo. Premise: it’s not a YA, it’s the first book of a series and, above all, it is NOT a book for everyone. I mean, there’re explicit scenes of violence (even sexual). It’s terrific dark fantasy set in the present day in Yale’s university, between ancient secrets societies and macabre rituals. I’ll not tell you anything more so you can play detective because do not be fooled to understand right away the plot or the main character. #read #readind #book #books #fantasy #fantasybook #darkfantasy #bookish #booklover #bookcommunity #bookphoto #bookrewie #bookstagram #bookworm #instabook #bookoftheday #bibliophile #booksinpictures #mybookfeatures #picoftheday #theninthhouse #lanonacasa #leighbardugo #mondadori https://www.instagram.com/p/CCGdZrVguyW/?igshid=1vt6djrnxktv2
