i remember when elliot page came out as trans and immediately had a new haircut and top surgery and of course i was so excited to have such a known trans actor, but i was also so incredibly jealous. i was angry, not at him but at the world, because he’d been able to come out and start looking how he wanted to so quickly when i didn’t have that ability. i had to wait nearly 5 years just to be accepted, but eventually i saw his success as a reason to keep going

i just finished I Who Have Never Known Men and I don't think I've ever read anything quite like it. it's going to live rent free in my mind for years. it's occupying the same area as The Outsider by Albert Camus, for some reason. it went to the Piranesi school of "even the most mild plot description is a spoiler". I am going to obnoxiously recommend this to everyone forever.
