He never said he didn't read in general. He said he reads a lot of self help books and when he was specifically asked about smut he said he hadn't read the genre before Heated Rivalry and that the time in his life he really got into reading was when he was in France and was reading books in French. Even that wasn't him implying he doesn't read at all.

the gendering of subjects is so crazy to me. every time someone is like 'oh ofc he's not good at reading he's a BOY' im like '??????? do you think it's normal??????? for boys and men to just have no reading skills?????? the fundamental skill for daily life and all other kinds of education?????? you think men are just BORN without the capabilities to READ and process what's WRITTEN' and without fail they get this puzzled look on their face as if the gravity of what they believe just hit them
