Discussion at 221B Con
At Least There's the Football (Longfic discussion!)
Hello, Sherlock fanfic readers! The discussions are on-going (seriously, never shut down in any of the threads!) but the last new one to be introduced in this round starts tomorrow! While the previous stories were limited in length, this is our long read. Don't worry if you haven't had time to read it yet, often the discussion is most active on the weekend, but don't forget to drop by and see what we'll be discussing! At Least There's the Football is a series by Sheffiesharpe. It starts at the pool and in 14 parts ranges from gen to explicit. There is Johnlock and Mystrade and some OCs, too. You can find the series here: http://archiveofourown.org/series/9540 and then join us over on LiveJournal http://reading221b.livejournal.com to discuss it. This discussion will be locked, so even once it goes live you will need to be logged in to view it or participate. (LJ accounts are free and membership is open! Please do join us!) Jagnikgen will lead the discussion starting on Wednesday, August 17th!

Reading 221B is back for our summer round!
We are making some important changes to this summer’s round - a cap on wordcount, opening one or two discussions for public view, and most importantly - all categories will be Leader’s Choice. If you are interested in joining us discuss some FANTASTIC Sherlock fics, please click the link above for more information.
This round’s categories will be:
1. Genfic We’re looking at this as meaning that the story does not center around romantic and/or sexual relationships. Passing mentions are fine, but should not be central to the plot.
2. Moriarty Let’s talk Moriarty! Moriarty should be the main focus of this fic.
3. Casefic This can be any rating or pairing, but there should be case that is important to the overall plot.
4. Off-screen or minor characters. Here’s the place for a fic about characters that we never see or don’t see often. Want to talk about Harry or Mrs. Turner or even Stamford? Here’s your stream! 5. Crossover/fusion BBC Sherlock meets _______________. 6. Longfic – any fic over 50k. Any genre, any pairing. 7. Rare pair – any ship-focused fic that is *not* Johnlock.
8. Wild Card – Any fic under 50k. A great opportunity to put forward a fic that straddles genres or might not fit anywhere else!
Stop by and let us know what you’d like to discuss - either by volunteering to lead, or by commenting on other’s suggestions! We can’t wait to see what you guys want to discuss!

Going to 221b Con? Like to read fanfic? Wanna talk about it?
The mods at @reading221b have FANTASTIC news - in conjunction with @threepatchpodcast, we're going to be hosting a LIVE, IN-PERSON reading discussion at @221bcon in the Three Patch Podcast Suite! Mods @tiltedsyllogism and gentlespirit will be on hand to lead a discussion of thesardine’s Left Unsaid.
Left Unsaid is unrated (but roughly teen-level), Johnlock, and is a quick read at about 2K words long. thesardine is a wonderful author and the discussion is sure to be a great one.
The exact time and date of the discussion hasn't been decided (it'll depend on what else is going on that weekend) but we'll announce as soon as we know. And if you miss that announcement - just stop the TPP Suite at the con and someone there will undoubtedly help you out. (And also probably feed you, and give you things to color, and hit you up for knitting, and all that good stuff.)
We are SO excited to be teaming up with the TPP crew and we cannot WAIT to see all of you at the con to discuss these fics!

Reading Reminder!
