Readingoals Readathon Announcement
Welcome to the readingoals readathon!
I’m going to level with you. I wanted an excuse to read a bunch of Frankenstein/Mary Shelley themed books. Normally I try to read a few Frankenbooks in October but, honestly, the month just doesn’t really work for me. So I’m moving it up to April since it’s my birth month and also I get a couple weeks off work for the mid-semester break. And I decided why not make this an official readathon.
But the Frankenstein of it all is not mandatory – if you wanna use this as an excuse to read a bunch of books off your TBR, get through a stack from the library, or work on some other reading goal you’ve got, then join me!
Details
TIME: April 1-30, beginning at midnight in your time zone,
POST: I’d love to see what you’re reading throughout the month so tag your posts with ‘readingoals readathon’. I’ll be tracking the tag and reblogging things all month!
PROMPTS: I’ve created a mini bingo board for anyone who would like a little direction or just enjoys that sort of thing – it comes in both a Frankenstein version and a more general style, but the prompts are the same in both! Feel free to double up on prompts or ignore them entirely! Check under the cut for more details on what each prompt means.
25.06.25 prepping for the readathon!
Tonight my friend and I are starting our 24 hour readathon. I am planning on reading Babel😭. We just got loads of snacks and are gonna start at 21:00.
My options are
-Babel by R.F. Kuang
-Paper Towns by John Green (I’m rereading the books of my childhood with a sharper eye)
-Fang Fiction by Kate Stayman
The main goal is Babel but if I get bored or finish it the other two options are there!! I’ll update how it goes.
Well it is April 1 for me so that means I've officially started the Readingoals Readathon! Here's my collection of Frankenstein related books (excluding a couple on my kobo). Definitely not expecting to get through all of these but if I can make a bit of a dent in the pile, I'll be pleased. There's a couple of novellas in here as well as a middle grade and a few YA, so fingers crossed it's a good reading month for me!
There's still about 12 hours to go on my poll so I'm not sure which book tumblr's going to choose for me. I've decided to start with something I hope will be a bit fast paced (and which I don't think will win the poll) so I'm kicking off with The Children on the Hill by Jennifer McMahon.
rereading an old favorite 🧡
Readingaols readathon book 5 - a second bingo!
Prompt: set in another country
Managed to finish Eynhallow half an our before the end of the month!
In this book we follow Agnes, a mother of four, as her life on the small island of Eynhallow is interrupted when a stranger named Victor Frankenstein moves into a vacant house there.
I ended up really liking it! The first half of the book was a bit slow but it really picked up in the second half. Truely very sad and horrifying and upsetting at points. But a very interesting addition to the Frankenstein mythology.
(Content warnings: spousal abuse, childbirth trauma, animal death, infant death, and a touch of cannibalism)
With this being the last week before the readingoals readathon starts I figured it was a good time to put up my options for the poll pick promts.
Which Franken-book should I read?
Following Frankenstein by Catherine Bruton
Clairmont by Lesley McDowell
The Children on the Hill by Jennifer McMahon
A Botanical Daughter by Noah Medlock
Chicano Frankenstein by Daniel A. Olivas
The Frankenstein Diaries by Hubert Venables
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White
Eynhallow by Tim McGregor
This Monstrous Thing by Marcus Sedgwick
Currently reading For the Record by Juliana Smith and this woman changes her eye color in a single page! What a silly thing to leave out while editing! I'll wait for another mention of her eyes to confirm the actual color lol 😂
