Betty: After a rocky start, Holly and Betty now maintain a casual friendship of sorts, occasionally butting heads but nothing serious. Holly holds a great deal of respect for Betty, and what she does for Sunshine Tidings, but does wish that she would share some of the burden with others. Despite assurances that she will always have a place at the settlement, Holly frequently worries that her problems – injuries with long recovery, and her drinking – may ultimately get her thrown out. The injuries could not be kept secret obviously, but she goes to great lengths to make sure that Betty does not find out about her drinking.
Asher: Still too loud and far too obnoxious in her opinion, Holly is reaching a point where she can tolerate Asher in small amounts. They two occasionally go out scavenging together, and Holly often saves food scraps for him to take home to his animals. Since Rori considers him a good friend, Holly makes an effort to be less abrasive towards him – so as to not upset Rori – but doesn’t hesitate to dole out friendly jabs from time to time, and is not afraid to tell him to fuck off if she’s having a bad day.
Novac: Holly has harbored a slight crush on Novac for quite some time, and playfully flirts with him every now and then. However, since she sincerely doubts he could ever have any real interest in her in that way, it’s not something she takes too seriously. It might sting a little, but she doesn’t dwell on it. They’ve spent a fair amount of time together; traveling/scavving, playing poker, sharing meals etc, and as such, she’s grown comfortable, in his company and truly looks forward to seeing him, and is always happy to give him a place to stay.
Rori: Holly admires Rori, and considers her a good friend. At times she finds her rowdy behavior a bit nerve racking, but for the most part it doesn’t bother her. Her fondness for Asher is a little confusing, but Holly mostly just lets that go and doesn’t say anything. They’ve talked and drank together, and while neither have shared too much about their respective pasts, Holly does get the sense that they share similar hurts. She finds some comfort in that.
Maybelle: Holly feels a huge sense of relief now that Maybelle is living at Sunshine Tidings. Knowing she was by herself in Good Neighbor mad her extremely nervous, and while there is still danger in being at the settlement, at least she isn’t alone. She has a warm, nurturing nature that Holly finds very comforting and easy to be around. Holly is still not quite sure why Maybelle wants to be friends with her, but she appreciates the friendship very much, and would be devastated if anything happened to Maybelle, or their friendship. Holly often goes out of her way to bring back little knick knacks, jewelry, or anything just downright pretty, for Maybelle when she goes out scavenging.
Gage: He and Holly have developed a very close sibling-like friendship, which Holly holds very dear to her heart. At this point she considers Gage to be one of her best friends. His jokes sometimes go over her head, and he knows a lot more than she does about pretty much everything, but he’s never talked down to her or treated her like she was stupid. They tease and give one another a hard time, but he’s someone Holly trusts enough to go to for advice. She’s fond of bringing him Old Pre-War items she founds, partly because he thoroughly enjoys them, and partly because a lot of the time she has no idea what these things are.
Andy: Holly and Andy hit a bit of a rough patch after she found out that he was a Gunner, to the point where she was throwing insults and hurtful names at him any time she saw him. The two have since talked things out, and while Holly is not overly thrilled with his status with the Gunners, they’ve patched up their friendship. During their talk, she shared some of her past with him, leaving out some of the more unpleasant details, but Andy is now one of the only people who knows what happened to her family. His very un-Gunner-like demeanor still surprises her sometimes. He strikes her as a genuinely caring person, who wants to do good. She finds him very sweet and sincere, and easy to be around. Holly thoroughly enjoys, and looks forward to his company, and misses him a lot when they’re apart. Holly feelings for/attraction to him have grown quite a bit, causing her a lot of stress and confusion, and while she’s tempted to tell him, a very big part of her is afraid and tells her to hold back. She doubts very much that her affections will be returned.
Rick: Holly would not say that she and Rick are close by any means; their relationship is based mostly on his need for various salvage pieces, and her need to be distracted from all her emotional garbage. Still, she does like and respect him, and doesn’t worry about him screwing her over in one way or another. Rick has been – in Holly’s opinion – very helpful and with her situation with Boss and his gang, and feels that she owes him a small debt.
Boss/Gat: An unfortunate encounter, in which Boss attempted to rob Holly while she was out hunting, resulted in them each getting shot. Their wounds have since healed, but the animosity between them remains. Boss seems to enjoy toying with Holly, and she really wishes that he’d just drop dead. A second encounter in Bunker Hill, in which Holly stubbornly refused to do business with him, lead to a few not so subtle threats. Holly has yet to determine how serious he is about carrying them out, but she’s quite shaken and has decided to avoid the Bunker Hill area as much as possible, hoping that if she simply stays out of his ‘territory’ she can avoid future problems.
She knows very little about Gat, but the fact that he freely associates with Boss is enough to tell her that she wants nothing to do with him.
Following their most recent run in – in which Boss beat, and strangled her – Holly remains very afraid of Boss, and fully intends to shoot first, ask questions never, next time she runs into him.
Jake: Jake showed up in Sunshine Tidings with Levi not too long before Holly had her run in with the raiders. While she was recovering, he helped her a lot (often without being asked) since she had so many physical limitations. Over time, they became quite close. Although she was often cranky, due to frustration and pain, she was careful not to take it out on Jake too much. He finds her disinterest in haggling frustrating, and gets after her for not making smarter deals with people. She’s started teaching him about foraging, and how to cook different things. Although he very much wants to go out scavenging with her, Holly refuses for fear that Jake will get hurt or killed. This frustrates him, and he tends to be a bit snippy with her, but in the end always comes to say goodbye before she leaves. Holly feels a sort of maternal affection for Jake, and is very protective of him. While she’s away, Holly leaves her little make-shift trading post, and her two pets, Mable, and Beatrice, in Jake’s care.
Levi: While Levi has been around for as long as Jake, Holly has not spent quite as much time with him. However, she does like him, and is happy to have him over for supper when he’s not working. She sees him as a very kind and giving person, after all, how many people would trek across the country to help a kid they aren’t even related to or knew before hand?
Dell: Holly likes Dell very much, but has very little understanding of what he does. All the technical talk goes right over her head, and at first she felt a bit uneasy, and worried that he was expecting, or hoping for her to follow along and add her own thoughts. Eventually, she figured out that mostly he’s thinking out loud. His excitement for his various robots is very endearing to her, and even if she doesn’t understand, she’s happy to listen. Holly sees Dell as a sweet, gentle person, one who is not inclined to fight unless absolutely necessary. As such, she can’t help but feel a bit protective of him.
Boyd: Boyd and Holly got along right from the start. Neither of them are inclined to talk much about their pasts, or to ask too many personal questions. Even so, they’ve managed to bond, and become very close friends. Although they’ve not discussed anything at length, she can’t help but feel that they’ve been through something very similar. Holly is aware of Boyd’s feelings for Maybelle (and her feelings for him) and often encourages him to talk to, and spend time with her. He spends a lot of time in a little camp just outside of Sunshine Tidings, watching over the settlement. Holly doesn’t like him being out there alone, and often badgers him into coming up to the settlement to stay with her, or at the very least, have a hot meal.
Baptiste: A new trader who seems like a decent enough person. His fondness for explosives makes Holly a bit nervous, but he seems to know what he’s doing so she has yet to say much about it. Jake has taken a liking to him, and an interest in blowing things up. Holly isn’t crazy about the idea, but is choosing to trust that Baptiste will be careful and won’t let anything happen to Jake.
Matthew: Holly and Matthew grew up together out west, their families traded with each other, and from time to time would each out with more labor intensive tasks. They had not seen each other for nearly four years – after Holly unexpectedly left the Mojave following the loss of her home and family – until Matthew and his friends found Holly beaten and broken in a raider camp they had been asked to deal with. Holly has always thought of Matthew as a big brother, and loves him dearly. As happy as she is to have him around, his presence has dredged up a lot of old, unresolved grief that she’s now struggling to deal with. She’s also very aware that she’s changed quite a bit since he last saw her – not for the better, in her opinion – and worries that Matthew maybe won’t like the person she’s become. She fears him seeing that she’s changed for the worse, and the rejection that will likely come along with that.
Grant: Holly and Grant have spent a fair amount of time together, though most of it has been spent in silence. Neither harbor any ill will towards the other, but they’re simply not the chatty sort. Holly gets the impression that Grant wants distance from people, perhaps even more than she does. He seems to have a quick temper, which she’s made an effort to avoid, but she thinks he’s a decent, hardworking person.
Starling: Starling was the one to first discover Holly at the old motel, and the one who ultimately freed her from the cage they’d kept her in. For that she will always be grateful. Holly finds her to be a very warm, and caring person, balanced with a very admirable toughness. Holly considers her a very good friend, and feels indebted to her.
Slim: A soft, nervous boy, but damn good with a gun. Maybe not the most clever person around, but now stupid either. He tends to babble, and his thoughts can be a bit scattered making his stories hard to follow. But he means well, and works hard and that’s all that really matters to her.
Louisa: She and Holly spent a lot of time together while she was healing from her wounds. Louisa, unfortunately, had to deal with a lot of Holly’s anger and frustration, but did so with patience and understanding. Holly has since apologized for her behavior, and thanked her for everything she did. She’s been on the look out for pre-war psychology books for Louisa, as a way to pay her back (though not fully) for all the care she did for her.
James: The doctor who tended to her wounds after the incident at the motel. He seems kind and capable. Holly likes him well enough,and is grateful for everything he did for her, but regrets telling him about her drinking problem, fearing that he might say something about it to Matthew. Even so, she feels that she owes him a great deal for patching her up.
Olivia: Perhaps Andy’s closest friend, whom he considers a sister. Olivia was very kind and helpful when Holly was hurt in Diamond City; bringing some teas to both help her throat heal, and help her get some much needed sleep. Holly likes Olivia very much, and though she’s only ever been friendly and warm with her, she worries that Andy may have told her about some of the cruel things she’s said to him in the past. She doubts very much that Olivia would approve if she knew of Holly’s feelings for Andy.
Kennedy: Some merc that comes by Tidings to trade from time to time. Holly does not like him in the least, and makes no effort to hide it, but does begrudgingly trade with him since he hasn’t done anything horribly offensive so far.
Dennis: A friend of Asher’s, and the doctor who has been taking care of Jay. Being a friend of Asher’s made Holly a bit wary at first, but it very quickly became clear that the difference between the two is night and day. He seems very sincere, and caring. So far, she likes him a lot.
Emil: Holly met Emil during her stay in Diamond City when she was healing from her most recent altercation with Boss. He struck her as odd initially -- having laid down in the snow and ice with her after she’d fallen, to ‘keep her company’ -- however, after sharing some of his personal philosophies, which aligned very closely with her father’s, she was less skeptical of him. She doesn’t see him often, but enjoys his company very much, and always invites him to share a meal when he’s in Tidings.
Jay: Like Jake, Holly has taken Jay under her wing a bit, acting as a sort of maternal figure. He’s a nervous, uncertain kid, who has definitely been through a lot though Holly does not pry. She often asks if he wants to help with chores, particularly those to do with animal care, as he seems very fond of the livestock. He’s taken a liking to one of Beatrice’s kittens, and Holly intends to give it to him once its old enough to leave its mother. As with Jake, Holly is very protective of Jay.
Jimmy: Holly has a somewhat awkward relationship with James, although she likes him well enough, she’s made a few conversational missteps that make her worry that she’s given offense. He’s never seemed terribly put off -- only uncomfortable the time that she caught a glimpse of his ‘robot arm’ -- but she’s not sure if he’s simply being polite. He’s often invited to meals, and she’s always happy to trade with him.
Ian Galloway: Their first meeting was not the best; with Ian offering less than reassuring advice and directions while Holly was out scavving. Although he’s never been openly hostile towards her, she’s fairly certain it would take very little to provoke him. He gives off a very unsettling vibe that she can’t quite put her finger on. As such, she has no desire to end up on his bad side, and tries to remain cordial with him.
Flo: A friend of Matthew’s from his days in the Capitol Wasteland. She and Holly may not spend a great deal of time together, but they get along well. Matthew trusts her, and that’s enough for Holly to do the same. She’s always welcome at Holly’s house, and is often invited to meals when she’s around.
Eoin: Eoin and his family, in Holly’s opinion, are very good and kind people, and she’s very fond of all of them. She met Eoin first, when he was passing through Tidings to do some trading. It took only a few minutes of talking to him for her to decide that she liked him. She often takes meat scraps and bones to them to give to their dogs. In the event that she hears of someone looking for a dog, she often sends them to the Murphy’s, provided that they seem halfway decent. Anyone who seems shady gets no such referral. The Murphy’s are more than welcome at Holly’s house any time.
Sam & Frankie: Twin sisters who were hired by Matthew as extra protection after her last run in with Boss. They’re both strong and disciplined from what Holly can tell, and she admires them. Although neither of them have ever been anything but kind, Holly tends to feel awkward and insignificant in their presence. It’s hard to her to imagine either of them ending up in the position she’s
Vince: Referred to almost exclusively as Major Shitstain. Holly was unfortunate enough to run into Torres while out salvaging materials from around the settlement. To say that she does not like him is an understatement, and she will admit that he scares her. There’s a certain predatory air about him that makes her skin crawl, and she does not care to find herself in his presence again.
