Xbox One, Now Improved Without Kinect
So that was sort of quick wasn't it? Just a year ago Microsoft was chewing our collective ears off telling us that Kinect is the future of gaming, that Kinect is a part of the Xbox One and I for one believed them. But besides my gullibility, I thought the Kinect was a feature that Microsoft absolutely needed as a differentiator against the more powerful, more open Playstation 4. But I guess not. Starting June 9th costumers will be able to pick up an Kinect-less Xbox One for $399, putting it on equal footing with the Playstation 4.
Perhaps Sony's strong sales numbers forced Microsoft's hand. Or maybe Microsoft planned to do this all along (albeit a bit later down the road) but all signs to Microsoft once again proving to the gaming community that their minds can be changed for the better.
So I welcome this new option for gamers. I know for one, my wife did not want an Xbox One until the Kinect was completely removed from the package, and I'm sure there was a ton of other people that feel the same way. I like the Kinect, sure it doesn't do much at the moment but the voice controls are really useful and I can see it getting better as the consoles get more established.
What do you think of the new Kinect-less Xbox One option? You jumping in now or still waiting?
