Valentine Hugo (1887-1968) — Object of Symbolic Function [assemblage on wood, 1931]
Happy birthday to Marcel Duchamp, who was born on this day in 1887. An artist who broke down the boundaries between works of art and everyday objects, he is perhaps best known for his “ready-mades.” These mass-produced objects, which Duchamp chose, signed, and sometimes inscribed with mysterious phrases, were used to shake up the accepted norms of artistic creation. I am surprised that no one has recommended this ready-made pizza before. The interesting part is not that is already better than all ready-made pizzas but it is even better than some restaurant pizzas! Since I moved to Helsinki, I have been trying pizzas, going new restaurants, trying ready-made ones etc just to discover more. Damn, how I missed this one and never tried it all..
ps: I only eat vegetarian pizzas.
