Like i mentioned, he was originally a Resident evil Oc... But he was also my favourite little critter and i don't wanna leave him behind with my RE obsession. Not to mention his lore fits well into outlast, i suppose.
⚠️TW for drugs, Domestic abuse!
So, in a nutshell,,,
He's from Germany and he used to be married to a woman with whom he had a daughter. Both adults got involved with drugs eventually and it led to insane debts and bad mental health in both.
A bunch of horrible shit happened in the form of domestic abuse, and eventually the daughter got into the crossfire and was killed by his wife, after which he snapped and killed her too. (He managed to keep their deaths secret)
Now he didn't deal well with all of this, of course, and lost himself even more to substances, which led to homelessness. In resident evil, that's when he got into the hitman business to stay afloat, but I'm unsure if i wanna keep that in outlast.
No idea
But I'd say, that's when he joins project lathe,,,?
All in all, Schaffer is an apathetic and lethargic man. Likely that he enjoys the therapy to a certain extent, after all it helps him get his mind off of his past, and keeps him engaged. The only things he doesn't handle well are the sexual references enemies tend to make. He's got bad experiences regarding that with his late wife.
PS.: He tries to be besties with dorris because he really wants his ciggies
As always, Asks are open, guys! I love interacting with all of you🫶
How would Markus find Father Maria's trials? (And the other prime assets if you feel like answering that, but I'm most interested in hearing about Maria's)
Thank you for the ask, Anon!
The trials themselves would be enjoyable, i suppose. As previously mentioned, he's having fun to a certain extent, since the alternative would be being homeless and having to process his loss and guilt.
He doesn't really give a damn about the individual Prime assets or ex pops. They blur into one and the same thing; An enemy to avoid. For all he knows, they're all disgusting and insane. Including Father Maria.
Maria talks to himself, and sometimes mentions his experience with trafficking. Those are probably the only moments Maria appears as another human being to Schaffer, since schaffer can relate to the experience of abuse and the confusion and terror that comes with it.
He feels pity and kinship, and sometimes contemplates trying to help, but his apathy wins in the end. After all, Father Maria is yet another enemy, and nothing special in this sea of lunatics XP
