Today:
We a call at like 8:30 (literally when we open) that a seller for our 12:00PM closing is in the hospital unexpectedly. It's not life-threatening, but he's in there. Okay so we deal, the closer gets all the documents he needs to sign to his agent so he can sign at the hospital
11:00AM closing starts. Apparently part of the team at the lender didn't know the closing was happening??? So they weren't answering e-mails about getting clearance to fund (aka they weren't sending the money for the mortgage which would then be going to the seller who was waiting with his WHOLE FAMILY to go to their closing in SC). So they're stuck waiting for funding until like 1:00PM with the buyer's 4 month old and the seller's entire family just...waiting. They finally leave, it's hunky dory.
The other 11:00AM closing shows up. They've sent their funds and we're waiting for a $50k wire from another closing attorney for their sale of their old home to come to us. And we wait. And wait. The other firm says they've sent it. We're slightly terrified it's missing because there is a super common scam where incorrect wiring instructions are sent and people don't always check before sending their wires and we literally had someone wire $70k to someone else entirely a few weeks ago because they didn't check with us (which is another story). But it finally shows up like 2 hours later, so we get them out the door.
Around 11:30 though these two ladies come in to sign early. They'd been scheduled originally for then but we weren't even planning on closing on their sale until we got word from a judge that they could (there were 5 different sellers for that one and there was also nonsense about an estate so it was COMPLICATED) so it was thrown on last minute and there was a struggle to get everything together, they're pissy but we finally get them taken care of and out the door they go 2 hours later.
Okay so then we have a 2:00PM closing suddenly happening when we weren't even sure it was going to happen because the lender COULD NOT GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER but they sent us the loan package like 30 MINUTES BEFORE so we're trying to get it together for signatures (we normally get that shit like 24 hours in advance) so that delays that closing a bit. The wife of the couple buying has to leave after we get funding approval so we're like cool, we've got everything, so she's gone. And then the lender is like oh wait no here are some more docs you have to sign after they've funded. We let the sellers go but the husband waits around until we close and we're finally like fuck it, we have the money, y'all go, we'll get this signed later
We then had a closing at 4:00PM that didn't go. The closer was kicking her own ass to get everything together (loan package didn't show up until like 3:00PM and the closing itself was going to be in an office 30 minutes away) so we rush to get it together. At 3:45 we hear that the buyer doesn't want to close because she "had an emotional day". So we're like....what the fuck does that even MEAN.
Happy Friday
