it was my absolute privilege to witness the apex of freudian slips when a speaker meant to say “freudian slip” but what actually came out of their mouth was “freudian sex”

guy on the subway with one ear pierced, little gold hoop. other guy on the subway very quickly and subtly googling "which one is the gay ear". it is not the gay ear. visible disappointment on his face as he puts his phone away.
the kids are calling them "stone fruits." they start off small—think cherries. then they're hooked and they need a quick fix, they get peaches, maybe some nectarines. it's all they can think about. before you know it, they're trying the really hard stuff—apricots, plums. once they taste a mango there's no going back.

World Heritage Post
my life with ADHD
This is very true and a great post.
But low key makes me think about how people with adhd have been raised their whole lives to value a day based on what they accomplished vs what they experienced
I think your point is excellent. But also consider:
That list might say things like “Paint a picture. Go birdwatching. Finish that great novel I started reading. Call my grandma. Learn to bake a cake. Visit my sister. Play piano.”
For me at least, the good/fun things are harder without meds too. I can have the best intentions, but following through is hard.
This addition is so important.
Yeah. I once made a post in which I complained about being frustrated at my brain, and one of the things I said was:
“I should not be struggling this much to do things that I want to do and have the time, space, energy, and skills to do. Actually, when I list it all out like that, I should not be struggling at all to do those kinds of tasks.”
And I STILL somehow got a rant about capitalism in the comments. And I do understand where it’s coming from, yes, but goddamn did I not make myself clear? Did I not say Things That I Want To Do???
i bet it feels good as fuck to erupt from the soil as a skeleton warrior
Ouffff
masala chai (my mom’s blend)
ingredients
2¼ cups cold water 6 green cardamom pods, lightly bruised (crack them, don’t pulverize) 1 small tej patta, indian bay leaf (optional but beautiful) ½ stick ceylon cinnamon (the delicate kind, not thick cassia) 6 to 8 whole black peppercorns 1½ inches fresh ginger, sliced, not grated a pinch of fennel seeds (for bengal) 2 heaping teaspoons assam ctc tea (ctc = granular black tea, find it at indian groceries) 1¼ cups full-fat milk 1½ to 2 tablespoons jaggery (preferred) or sugar tiny pinch of salt (optional, structural)
method
bring the water to a thoughtful simmer. small bubbles at the edges, not a rolling boil.
add the aromatics: cardamom, tej patta, cinnamon, peppercorns, fennel, ginger. let the perfume rise for 3 to 4 minutes.
add the assam ctc. reduce the heat and steep for 2 minutes. (ctc brews fast. that is the point.)
now the milk. pour it in slowly. bring the heat up until the chai swells and almost boils, then calm it. do this twice.
sweeten. jaggery if you can, otherwise sugar. a whisper of salt if you like balance.
let it murmur gently for 5 to 7 minutes, thickening slightly to a deep caramel.
strain into warmed cups. serve immediately. chai is a punctual emotion.
notes
• ginger decides the mood. add more in winter. • sweetness is relational. adjust according to your life.
Tumblr’s one true talent is making me sick of things I’ve never seen or read or heard.

I honestly think Gen-Z and younger simply does not understand how recent widespread smartphone adoption is.
I am not that old, and I didn't have a smartphone until probably late high school. For most of my life, many if not most people were not walking around with a magic internet machine in their pocket that they pulled out and used constantly for everything.
reblog if you remember having to ration your text messages and accidentally opening the internet on your phone was the end of the world
