Y’know, the only people that Jesus spoke a single harsh word to while he was on earth were the ones who used God’s name to treat others badly. This guy:
had nice dinners with prostitutes, criminals, and A+ Mistake Makers
treated women as equals to men
ignored racial boundaries
touched people with contagious diseases, physical disabilities, and a woman who’d been bleeding for decades
taught a radical doctrine of love, forgiveness, sharing, and spiritual freedom
he didn’t even get up in the face of the colonizers oppressing his homeland, he healed their loved ones too as long as they asked him and believed he could
he didn’t even raise his voice at people who mocked him as he was being viciously beaten and horribly murdered
he did have some fun “surprise, bitches!” moments with the disciples after he resurrected, but like, in a loving way that helped them grow as people
also he was poor, his parents were refugees and part of a religious minority, and they all lived in a bad neighborhood. And none of them were white.
You bet your butt he’s disappointed in any church that looks down on “that kind of people,” and any professing Christian politician whose platform is punishing people who need help. Yeah he still loves the them, but a lot of churches could do so much better and he wants us to for everyone’s sake.
