so when i first built my computer i had an amd rx 580 gpu because thats pretty much the minimum for vr and i didnt want to rule out the possibility. also i chose it during the height of the gpu shortage where bitcoin miners kept botting out the nvidia 3000s and amd 6000s and they were going for 1000s of dollars on reseller sites and everyone was scrambling to get Any gpu so there were very limited options all around. but honestly even though it was an older and not as powerful card it worked flawlessly and i loooved the amd software that came w it. when i upgraded to a 3060 ti yeah my fps skyrocketed but it turns out there are a lot of stupid little issues w nvidia drivers + the software is butt ugly + you need third party software to update the fan curve (and msi afterburner is butt ugly as well). i do not regret upgrading but it was more of a hassle than i thought itd be. im thinking maybe if i want to upgrade in the future again ill go w an amd ? my benchmarks are good but im a Stickler
