I saw this on @carrieaaquino page. So beautifully said, and so true. We are all unique, our school system on its own may not always recognize that. It's up to the adults in charge to show the kids that we see them. Do your best, but remember that we all have areas in which we excel and areas where we may struggle. In 8th grade a teacher told me that I shouldn't spend so much energy and time on art because it was not a 'real class'... 'If I'm going to be an artist it is, THIS class would probably be the one that's not real for me.' She was a substitute, so luckily I didn't have to deal with her very much... but what if I had gotten that attitude from more adults? I am so blessed that most of the adults around me agreed with my declarations of being an artist. Not every child gets that encouragement and reinforcement. But they should.
