There’s a story behind the Leaf and Artisan Trophy – the ultimate the world would ever see of tea. The trophy, crafted by master potter Ajith Perera, captures the essence of the making of ‘real’ tea – a chronicle worthy of a masterpiece. The hand symbolises the fundamental importance of the artisanal method of manufacturing #tea. The two leaves and bud represent the leaf that is handpicked to make real tea. The blue topaz, a gemstone mined in the tea country of Sri Lanka, is placed in a silver setting in the palm of the hand that holds the leaf representing its precious nature as well as its place in a country where millions depend on the tea industry for their livelihood.
