A part of me hates that I'm forced to stand aside and watch as I see this shipping thing be a SJ issue when I typically like to follow blogs like that but then unfortunately see them post anti stuff. I wish I could defend myself and have people UNDERSTAND my point of view but I know if I was public about my shipping view I'd just get called an abuse apologist or worse even if I'm a survivor. Just...why can't people understand this. I'm tired of being attacked in my ship tags or on my own dash.
I feel the same way anon. I’ve stopped following those kind of blogs because they equate the importance of fictional characters to actual SJ issues. Not everything is black and white, views are often complex and liking or disliking one thing in fiction shouldn’t make your point of view on actual important issues invalid.
I’ve become very open about what kind of fiction I enjoy and if someone has an issue then I don’t expect them to follow me (or want them to follow me), it’s simple. Don’t associate with blogs that are going to ostracize you for enjoying a pairing or only see your importance in the one thing you like.
