i've been having a weeb meltdown about this since i saw it and need to say something
this scene is most likely a reference to a sports manga from the 80s called Happy! the main characters (rather skeevy) tennis coach had the ability to tell people's physical abilities just by touching their muscles.
Happy! was a mega hit in Japan when it was released and is still pretty popular, so the odds of this being a deliberate callback are high
