Today is new years eve eve, and my house is still full of all the deliciously indulgent foods I bought over Christmas. I can't bring myself to throw away any food, so today begins a serious task - eat all of it. Or at least attempt to and give the rest away. I realise eating it is pretty counter productive, but I'm planning on going completely cold turkey with regards to carbs (the red ones anyway).
A few months ago my S.O. and I tried the paleo way of life, it took me 4 weeks to overcome the withdrawal symptoms but when I did I felt great and kept it up for about 4 months. It all went downhill when we moved house, at this time I also left my full-time job teaching to begin studying a masters degree; so it was all systems go at this time and I didn't really have the time or patience (or indeed willpower) to cook meals from scratch using good ingredients every day.
My aim will be to follow the Banting way of life as closely as possible, and be totally strict (meaning no alcohol) for the first 4-6 weeks to overcome the withdrawal symptoms. I want to lose weight (about 2 stone to start with), get fitter and generally feel better within myself. I have IBS and I've read that eating this kind of diet, because the foods are low inflammatory, helps to reduce or even diminish symptoms. Wouldn't that be nice?
I am new to this so anything I learn I will post, as well as keeping you up to date about my progress (the good with the bad). I've decided that writing a blog might encourage me to be stronger and stick to it (just in case anyone actually reads it haha).
See you on the 2nd January (I'm definitely going to be hungover on the 1st!)
