It was something that William was never going to admit.
His heart beat nervously in his chest, the blood thudding againsthis veins in forceful hits and his body burning. But no, he wasn’t going toadmit the desert in his mouth or the clutter in his mind. Not ever.
Swallowing, he adjusted his glasses.
“Sir,” he greeted, his eyes briefly tracing Undertaker’sshoulders and the way his cloak danced distractingly with the gentle breeze.
“Good night William~” Undertaker replied sweetly, hisfeet clacking almost merrily on the roof. “Such a beautiful night, isn’t it?”
William looked down at the dead human, bloody and lifeless, his cinematic records rising before them. A scream echoed in the narrow alley, soon muffled. Down, between the buildings the woman continued to struggle againsther captor. No one came out to help.
“That depends on your definition of beautiful…sir…” Williammuttered, his eyes fixed on the woman and the knife. It was any second now. Hehad to finish this quickly.
“Murder, macabre, death…” Undertaker continued cheerfully, circling William and peering down at the alley curiously. “Such ordinarythings, yet…”
At the sudden change in the other’s voice, William looked up,his eyes catching the moon shining on the long silver hair, those green eyesbeautiful and different than the rest… William swallowed again.
“…with right company, even the most ordinary thing canmean the most.”
No, William was never going to admit it.
Another short scream reached their ears. Finishing the man’srecord briskly, William took a few steps towards the woman’s body, gettingcloser to Undertaker and his scythe moving quick and efficient. He coughed as thewoman’s cinematic record rose in front of them.
“I can’t say,” he murmured flatly, hoping Undertaker didn’trealize his unnecessary steps. It wasn’t like his scythe couldn’t reach thewoman from his previous position.
“Is that so?,” Undertaker inquired sweetly, a knowing smiledecorating his lips. “Is there something wrong with your scythe, William?”
Flustered William stared at the cinematic record, colorslowly spreading on his cheeks. “No, sir.”
He wasn’t going to admit it, not going to confess how hisheart beat, how his breaths got quicker, how he couldn’t help but followUndertaker’s movements, his skin tingling and his mind always aware.
“Perfect!” Undertaker exclaimed behind him, hishand clapping on William’s shoulder. “Finish this off and-“ Getting closerUndertaker murmured against William’s ear. “-we’ll go to my place.”
An involuntary shiver passed through William’s body, hisbreath going out early.
“Uh..yes, sir.” He pushed out, stiff and breathless.
In the end…he didn’t need to admit anything. His bodybetrayed him as much as necessary.
