1000 Reasons to Love The Mandalorian (24/1000)
When I watched the show for the first time I missed or simply forgot the scene when Greef Karga tells Din that he’s rich as well after capturing The Baby™. (Chapter 3 – [15:19]) He got two pieces of Beskar and he shows them to Mando for a brief moment before hiding them back on his chest.
Later, when other Mandalorians help with the escape, Greef Karga sneaks into Razor Crest to surprise Din, but he gets shot… directly where the Beskar is hidden. (Chapter 3 – [31:04]) So after I watched it without the knowledge of the first scene I assumed it was just some kind of luck. Like the type of luck that the important character has to have to live long enough to be relevant to the plot. I thought: “he’s probably more important, so he survived, that’s all”…
But then, when I was rewatching the show, I realized that Din knew about the Beskar. Or at least could have assumed that it was still there. And knowing his skills I’m pretty sure he didn’t hit that spot by accident.
So anyway… I really like that he didn’t want to kill Greef just because he changed sides. Especially since he was the one who broke the code (even if for a good reason). I appreciate that. Killing a normal guy who was, presumably, his boss for quite a long time would not really fit his character.
I can call this reason: yet another post where I just love Din for being himself. (But I’m also glad that Greef is still alive :D)
